The Jets will have to retain 50% on wheeler to get something back. imo wheeler 50% to FLA for hornqvist, denisenko, and a 2nd would be the best way to move wheels. Hornqvist can easily replace wheeler probably on the 3rd line, denisenko is probably a nhler next season, and a 2nd rounder on top.

Possibly. I think 50% may be an exaggeration though. If the Jets do retain and take back bad salary like Hornqvist, they have to make sure the $/point doesn't get too bad. Like this deal, we don't want the Jets paying Wheeler $4.0 mil to be a close to PPG player somewhere else while the Jets pay the new player $3 or 4 mil for half or less the production. In effect meaning the Jets are paying 6 or 7 mil for a 40 point player.

Your Florida idea is a good one though, so that the Jets are getting something for taking back that much bad cap and retaining.
