One thing that scares me is third pair tho. Use Aho money plus leftover cap and shave 250k off of Fiala and get Kulak, Gudbrandson, Rutta or somebody like that for 2ish if possible. Might need to dump Marty and replace with a cheaper Lorentz to find the extra cash but I know the team is very unlikely to do that.

Yea as much as i love Marty i kinda wish they had just let him walk, or signed him for cheaper. You don't realize how far 1.8 mil can go until you're making a run for the cup while slammed against the cap.

Yep exactly what I said as soon as I saw that deal last year. I’m sure he provides what’s needed in locker room and that’s what they’re paying for but when you try to maximize on ice talent at this stage it gets tough. It’s funny that canes overpaid a guy like him when they’re rare to do it for anyone else but I guess that probably shows how much coaching staff values his leadership and energy presence because he’s certainly a replacement level player on the ice.
