Lol just another casual who hates on the Oilers

u must be a leafs fan, which is really embarrassing for you to say this. You cheer for a team that blew a 3-1 series lead to the 2022 first overall winners. Now that's embarrassing, not only that, you haven't won a playoff round since sliced bread.

I don't hate them, I just see them for what they are. The Oilers are the same as the Leafs were right after the lock out. Yeah they had Sundin and others. Still good players but they just weren't good enough but their GM's kept acting like they were close when they weren't. The Oilers are hopelessly outclassed by a lot of teams despite having the best player on the ice. Strong teams who have depth and can score just walk over them. It's not going to change anytime soon. Spending too much on Band-Aid FA's and expecting them to be saviours will only wreck the cap and keep spinning the tires. Best case is what happened this season. You finish in the playoffs in the weakest division and get crushed in the conference final. McDavid would likely stick around thinking they are close because all hockey players are proud. Worst case, he gets hurt and you miss the playoffs. Or other teams behind you, (San Jose, LA, Vancouver, maybe even Seattle) have good years and Edmonton regresses just a little and then the Oilers miss the playoffs entirely. If that happens even once, I could see McDavid and Draisaitl both wanting out.

Tell yourself whatever makes you feel better bud. It's crystal clear which team is heading in the right direction. Spoiler alert it's definitely not the Oilers.

oh ya because the Leafs are going in a great direction. JT contract is aging so well for you guys, I agree Oilers have roster flaws but Atleast it isn't an 11 million center that's the problem. Their the laughing stock of the NHL year after year, Atleast McDavid has had success

JT out produced everyone on your team not named McDavid or Draisaitl. He would be your 3rd best player by a massive margin. His contract isn't hardly a problem. And yes McDavid has a lot of trophies but winning a round or two isn't anything important

I am saying it doesn't matter unless you win it all. Winning a round only to get embarrassed down the road isn't a win. It's a loss. Personally I won't be happy until they win the cup. But good for you for being proud of getting swept by the Avs.

when did I say I was proud they lost? I'm saying Atleast they can actually win something unlike the Leafs, their a regular season team, and it's been proven since Matthews was drafted. Worry about your own team before you talk **** about others, because I wouldn't say blowing a 3-1 lead to the Habs is "going in the right direction". Your so embarrassing lmao.

At least they lost later. A loss is a loss. Tampa was the 2 time Champs and TO gave them all they could handle. Any other team in the east and I bet TO makes it deep. Put TO in the Pacific and they walk to the conference final.

Just nonsense. Edmonton has a similar pay structure. McDavid, Draisaitl and Nurse are worth 30 million. Sure paying McDavid and Draisaitl their wages is good money spent, but paying Nurse 9+ is ridiculous, he's not worth 7. Then all the other bad contracts on the team? Paying stars isn't a problem, it's when you can't get the depth because you spent too much on secondary players.

I am 100% sure it's happened. St Louis disappointed how many times before winning the cup? How about Washington? It was 10 years into Ovie's career before he saw any success. But you guys need to feel good about something eh?

I love how winning a round is now as good as winning the cup for everyone these days. Edmonton isn't a good team and this season is the absolute best they will be able to accomplish. Next season they will be as likely to win their division as they will be to miss the playoffs. My guess is they make the playoffs and depending who they get in round 1 will win again and may even get to the conference final but undoubtedly get destroyed by Colorado again because beating the Pacific isn't hard
