Wow overvalue Jets assets much? Also a healthy Monahan does not require such a giveaway by Flames

Is two firsts an overpay for Scheifele? It would cost quite a bit aswell to dump Murray’s contract

Im sure the Sabres would have to pay a steep price, but i doubt its two firsts. I feel like they could offer Levi, 16 and a roster player and Im not sure any other team would beat that unless Levi straight up said I hate Winnipeg.

It is a steep price but when are the Sabers going to try and be competitive and when was the last time they had an elite goalie? They already have a ton of young players making the jump are they going to wait 3-4 years for Levi or Portillo to be ready?

It's not black or white, right? Hellebuyck is a great goalie, but he's not the only good goalie. It's not unreasonable for them to make a modest short term upgrade and bet on Levi/UPL. Or trade Levi and someone for a different really good goalie.

You seem to follow the Sabers. When will they try and compete? Actually curious on their timeline.

I think they will be in the neighborhood of 16th-21st in the league next year as a bubble playoff team. The following year, I would think playoffs, and if the young guys (Cozens, Krebs, Quinn, JJP, Power, Mitts, Joki, Samuelson, Tage, Levi, Portillo, UPL, and 9/16/28 this year) for the most part develop well cup contention in 3-5 years.

I think this offseason will be pretty quiet with a few UFA adds and possibly a trade for a 2nd pair right D. I’m hoping they manage to sign 2 at least semi-competent goalies but I’d be surprised if we ended up doing that.

If they get a decent goalie, think they are a bubble team next year. Lost 14gms last year when we had a atleast a 2 goal lead, like 20 games when we where leading after 2 periods. They started learning how to win those games at the end of the year. Think 2yrs the Sabres are gonna be a handful if the right moves are made

If that’s your asking price for Hellebuyck you can shove that “great goaltender” where the sun don’t shine. He’s still good but he’s not that good. I wouldn’t give up one first round pick to get him, at least not in the top 10. If all it cost to get him was Vegas’s first rounder this year I might think about it. But you want number nine and next year‘s first and that’s not even enough? I don’t think so. Buffalo has plenty of options to fill in and wait until Levi or Portillo is ready to take the job. A goaltender that gets them to the playoffs won’t cost 2 first round picks to get.

maybe not an overpay for a team that has a use for him or much interest, two years left on a pretty cheap contract is good stuff. but the Sens just have no reason to be interested in him. there's no need for a centre when Norris and Stutzle are really locked in at 1C and 2C. and his off-ice reputation has been tanking a bit, so it's not like he has the "strong veteran leader to help the young kids in the locker room" value either

If you factor in dumping JVR and Stanley it’s only really 2 firsts which is his value

The value Is fair but I do not think that's the guy to get in this point in time. when you can get to keep your fifth overall to get a Stud RHD and and Aquirre A Ufa Center as Giroux, Kadri Thochek Domi for "free"
But I think Torts is happy with Coots Hayes and Laughton as the one two three.

And looks like there is a market for JVR according to the news for a team like Arizona to reach the cap floor and retain half the contract at the deadline for an other asset

and the flyers have their D core set for next season so no need for Stanley
Provi- Ellis
Sanheim- Risto
York-Nemec/Jiricek or Attard
