No need to sign fleury when you have kallgren. Sign sandin and Lily both for 2 million. Sign Lily for too many years. Just sign the both for 3 for 2 million. So you’d have about 2.1 million in cap, I’d sign Tyler motte to replace Robertson because he isn’t gonna do anything on the third line. I think he needs to play more in the marlies imo

Who's on crack? Chicago moves up 13 spots into the 1st round. That price would be a 2nd rounder.

Hawks receive 1st 2nd abramov mrazek. Leafs recieve 2nd 3rd. You could argue the 3rd is overpay.

I don't know where you're reading that. Hawks receive the late 1st, abramov and mrazek (there is no 2nd). Taking Mrazek to receive Abramov and moving up 13 spots isn't enticing, and then sending back an 3rd makes this an absolute no

Not to mention that Abramov is a nothing prospect . And i do not see a 2nd rounder for the hawks

What you specifically find enticing doesn't change trade value.

You're not following ... Moving up 13 spots will cost you an extra 2nd. The reason I added that 2nd to the trade was so you could see the value broken down.

Leafs 1st = Chicago 2nd minny 2nd

Abramov= 3rd (this is where the value is off)

Mrazek = minny 2nd going back to Chicago.

Hopefully that clears up what I meant.

Moving up 13 spots shouldn't cost (2) 2nd round picks and if that's the case, you easily it's better to keep the (2) round picks. The difference in 13 spots between the late 1st and early 2nd is a roll of the dice

It is most certainly the case. To be honest I'm not sure the minny pick would do it. Leafs dropped 4 spots from 25 to 29 and received the 76th pick. Dropping 13 spots and out of the first round would cost much more.

Just last draft preds traded pick 39 and 50 for Carolina's 26.

First round is irrelevant, the numbers of the pick are much more relevant when it comes down to swapping picks. I think draft picks, outside of the top 25, are highly overrated. Stats show over the years that once you get beyond the first 25 picks, it's really a crap shoot through the 2nd round. This year, being a weak first round, I don't see the value in moving (2) 2nd round picks to move up 13 spots. Hawks would have to have their eyes very specifically on someone.

Whether or not you see the value doesn't really matter. That is the value. It's not really up for debate.

Well that didn't age well, moving Mrazek essentially costed the Leafs (2) 2nd round picks is what you're suggesting since they gave up 13 spots

Yes that is exactly what it cost the leafs. The funny part is that you said this would never happen.

The funny part is all your fellow leaf fans are saying it was only a 7th rounder really

I know, they are dumb. They say they have charts that the GM's use. But has anyone ever paid a 7th to move up like that? No... but just last year the preds paid a 2nd for the exact same move.

It's ****ty to have to pay that price but the cap space is key.

I think (2) 2nds seems like a lot. 7th or 6th like some people are saying is crazy though.

It is the going rate. The problem is they try and lump first round with 5th round trades. Then say "see values". Go over every trade in the first round for the last 5 years you will see I'm right.
