Myers probably gets that return with no retention if Vancouver retains that much they’ll get a 1st for him.

J. T. Miller at $2,625,000 gets a far better return than this elsewhere.

Keep daring to dream friend. Myers is a 3rd pair defender and below average on-top of that. He has no value. Pure cap dump.

Key point, elsewhere. TO wouldn't give up Liljegren

Miller to Toronto isn't a fit for Vancouver if they are trying to get a RD out of him, unless they are willing to settle for Holl or Sandin (if they want to continue Tor's expirement or perhaps they move OEL to the right side as suggested by some article writer) assuming Toronto feels comfortable moving him. Otherwise, Toronto would just be giving up futures and mainly forward prospects for Miller which Vancouver doesn't really need unless maybe Knies.

P.S you forgot to sign Liljegren

Myers is an average 2nd pair defender who would be a good value contract at 3-4M depending on how much the Canucks retain. Of course since it’s pretty clear you don’t watch, you wouldn’t know that.

I have watched him a lot in his career, I wanted TO to get him instead of Schenn way back in the day. He had flashes at times but in his last year in Winnipeg he was a below average 3rd pair defender and Vancouver paid him like he was a top pair guy. The old school "you can't teach big" meat heads love him but anyone who doesn't dream of the dead puck era sees him get beat constantly, offer very little puck moving, possession or really anything that can't be provided by a guy making a million. At 2 million he'd be a decent 3rd pair guy who can take sheltered minutes but that's it. He's a cap dump.

Myers has solid puck moving ability, and he doesn't need to play sheltered minutes. Just admit you haven't been watching him recently, and your valuation of the player is simply out of date

If he was as good as you guys say, you wouldn't be trading him and you wouldn't be a mediocre team that relies on Demko standing on his head to win games.

We don't rely on Demko standing on his head, and just because Myers is good doesn't mean he isn't still disposable

The Canucks don't have a top 4 RD on their roster. If he's disposable, it's because you know he isn't very good and you know his contract is absolutely terrible

No, it means the Canucks simply want to upgrade on the player. We know all you're doing here is try to troll other people and throw dumb rationalizations to try and make them feel stupid

I want the canucks to be a good team. They are close to my 2nd favorite team but I see them objectively. They are massively flawed and they keep jumping the gun on the rebuild. Benning was the worst GM in the league. Myers was a mistake and upgrading him is easy but moving him is super hard.

Canucks are a middle of the pack team, they're a fringe playoff team as is, and they're not trying to jump the gun on a rebuild anymore now that Benning is gone. They could theoretically make the playoffs if they just ran the current core back, but they're obviously not going to do that when they can be using this upcoming off-season to not necessarily take a big step forward, but set themselves up better long-term

Being in the Pacific makes the playoffs possible but seeing how well Edmonton faired against an actual good team should teach everyone that making the playoffs in the weakest division just means you wait a little while longer to get sent home. It wouldn't have matter who came out of the Pacific, they would have been swept.

Probably, but if it's the best they can do for the time being, then so be it

Without a proper rebuild, that is all you will be able to expect. Being a middling team that may make the playoffs but not remotely good enough to win anything important

Canucks don't need a full rebuild, they just need a retool. They have enough young talent in their system they don't have to blow the whole thing up

I think they definitely need to fix that defence. It's your Achilles heal and I think one higher draft pick or a year where you get a few picks will see you as a great team in a few years

Their defense doesn't need "fixing" per say, as Ekman-Larsson and Myers performed just fine, but it certainly needs to be upgraded if the Nucks ever wanna contend

OEL and Myers are definitely not fine. They get beat a lot. Hughes can't be counted on to defend. Schenn is a 7/8th defenceman. Dermott is a very good 3rd pair defender but really for you to be a contender, I would want 2 top 4 RD.

OEL and Myers don't get beat a lot, you clearly don't watch the Canucks, Schenn has been an affective top 4 RD for the them, and Hughes CAN defend. Clearly you're just trolling

Honestly I am not trolling. I watch enough Canucks to see flaws in the defence. Demko masks a lot of it but he can't win em all.

No he doesn't, not to the degree you're suggesting. Canucks played well in games when Demko wasn't in net as well
