Kunin isn't center. He is 3rd line hardworking forward (12th in NHL in hits), with a potential to play at the second line. Yes, he struggled last year (lack of scroing). But he is younger than Kapanen, and probably will be way better with elite center's like Crosby and Malkin.
I think it can be win-win trade for both sides.

Tbh I would take Kunin in a heartbeat… he can play C or W and hopefully will put in more effort that Kapanen…

I wouldn’t. Kapanen had a better season with the horrid season he had to say the least. Both players are pretty bad defensively but Kapanen definitely has the higher upside and versatility than Kunin. Plus, Kapanen would just sign a one year deal and if it doesn’t work we let him walk, if we trade for Kunin and it doesn’t work than we are stuck with another contract when we could’ve just let Kapanen walk/signed him to a one year contract.

I’m assuming kapanen is getting a few mil tho…
If kap takes 1 year at under 2 mil for low risk then I’m fine keeping him around and scratching him if he is awful again
