There's absolutely zero chance Minnesota does this. Marcus foligno is going nowhere. This doesn't get you fiala either, so absolutely not. A ld prospect Minnesota doesn't need, Casey Middlestat, cap dump, and vegas 1st will not get you fiala

You're just not getting Marino for that. It doesn't help the Pens at all.

Feel like it's the other way around...

What type of contract is Olofsson looking for as a pending RFA?

Genuinely interested to see your logic (however minimal it will be) behind this.

Marino has a long contract and his stats have dipped each year and i believe fully that Olofsson will hit 30g if he stays healthy next year
I always peg Olofsson at 4 x 4

He's a relatively young, defensively strong, right-handed defenseman who's signed to a very nice contract for 5 more years.

Those don't grow on trees. So really, it's you that's severely undervaluing him.

Hes a good dman whos offense has dropped off and his contract may not even be a positive, if/when his d numbers drop back to league average

Plus with talented veteran centers like Pittsburgh has, you would think olofsson would be free to do what he does well.

He's not an offensive defenseman (those still exist). He's not supposed to help offensively and he's been consistently strong defensively every year of his career.

Still no logic behind your original comment.

Hasn't really grown defensively either. Good at breaking the puck out/zone exits, skates well, but not actually that great at in-zone defending

Hes consistently a good d man, not great or outstanding. Thats the entirety of the logic

He has some of the best defensive impacts in the league, but sure, he's not great at in-zone defending.

So even if I give you that point, he's still worth more than a goalie prospect who the Pens don't need, and a winger who doesn't have a strong track record of being an effective player at 5v5.

Olofsson just had a career year in points while having a career low in PP points. Calling Olofsson a PP specialist is an NPC take

This was his first season where he had more 5v5 goals than PP goals.

That still doesn't factor in that he's horrendous defensively and doesn't actually control scoring chances while he's on the ice, he's a negative impact player in that regard.

Its also only his 3rd season. Also love that part of the conversation where we cherry pick inconsistent situational advanced stats
