Maybe for Blackwood and 2nd overall. I know he’s had a couple meh years but the jets should be competing for a cup, trading away a vezina goalie doesn’t make sense unless it’s an overpay

I don’t think 2nd overall is in play. My only reservation with Hellebuyck isn’t performance-related, it’s that he only has two years in contract.

I think you're one of the few Jets fans that still feels the Jets are going to contend. Love the optimism. The one hope I held out for was the potential new coach, and he opted for time off instead.

With the 23 first being top 10 protected and Blackwood only being a backup at best, there isn't enough incentive for Winnipeg.

I think that's a dramatic overpay for Arizona to move from 3rd to 2nd. Is it Cooley or Slaf you think they will most want to be sure to draft?

All that aside, I think if Hellebuyck indicates he'd like a change, Jets would definitely consider that deal, IMO. (Better the '23 Pick by making it top 5-protected?) But I hope he wants to stay in spite off all the drama of late.

Jets would want to pick infront of AZ so they can draft Cooley. Jets need a center because Scheif and Dubois won't be with us for much longer.

2oa is off the table for only 2 years of Hellebuyck. The long and short of it is that there is no deal that works for both sides.

Shest and Vasy are ahead. But he’s in like that 2nd tier behind those two. When he’s on his game he’s a world beater. I’d agree jets wouldn’t be moving him unless 2OA is on the table as there’s really no incentive as hellebuyck has stated he’s happy in Winnipeg.

I'm sorry you need more than 1 season of outstanding numbers to be on Vasy's level . lets see shest do rhis 2-3 years in a row before anoiting him. the KHL doesn't count

I totally agree, I was just saying I personally think they’re the two best and then hellebuyck is behind those two.

Man. If we had the 2nd best goalie in the league to send here, I don’t think we’d be trading him to Winnipeg.

2nd overall pick is not being traded. Everyone asks for it and that’s fine. But the chances of NJD moving are slim to none (and slim left town).

This year’s 2nd overall is not in play here. But the 2023 1st is included.

All indications are pointing towards a retool instead of a rebuild, and with the right moves, and the right coach they could make the playoffs this year and win a round or two. Count me as one of the optimistic Jets fans.

Is there a coach in particular you hope the Jets can hire?

It sounds like it will depend on Jets plans (try to contend next year, retool for 1-2 year later, or rebuild for 3-7 years later). And probably what their take on Blackwood (or maybe Daws) would be.

If they are trying to compete in next two years, moving Hellebuyck would make that very hard. But if they take more of rebuild approach and move out Wheeler, Schiefele, then entertaining offers for Hellebuyck makes sense.

There could be a scenario where the two teams match up if they both had very clear windows:

2oa
Daws
Prospect

14oa
Hellebuyck

Jets draft Nemec or Jiricek Give Daws another year to develop.

Now that Trotz isn't an option I will settle for Montgomery or Tocchet. The team is in dire need of defensive structure, and that's where Monty comes in.
