Keeping Palat and acquiring Chychrun

Created by: Angusc
Team: 2022-23 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 25, 2022
Published: Jun. 25, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
In my opinion, Palat is clutch as an overall player, especially in game 5 and also inevitably they would lose him or Kilorn due to their cap situation.

In addition, also curious about the Chychrun trade since he has term and Tampa may not be able to sign Sergachev long term whereas Arizona has the cap space to do so. If they were to trade Sergachev, would you trade him to Arizona for Chychrun to extend their cup window or to a team such as LA to sell him to recoup assets after the Hagel and Paul trades.

Most likely a no, but curious to hear your thoughts. Figured that Arizona has the cap space to resign Sergachev next offseason and Chychrun has 3 more years with an affordable cap hit

Or any other team besides Anaheim If Tampa is able to trade him for a 2nd. As much as Kilorn is a good player, I feel he hasn't had a really good playoffs this season than Palats. The team who acquires Kilorn will have a player with cup experience and may address their left wing need,

AZ doesn't do that without incentive very similar players ,but Chychrun has a much club friendlier contract.
WOW he has a bad month (that hasn't been as bad as most on here think and all of a sudden throw the Bum away FREAKING incredible.

Really nice idea -- really, really nice -- but I think Arizona is more future-oriented if they're going to trade Chychrun at all. They're probably thinking about a top forward prospect and a first-round draft pick for him instead of what is essentially a lateral move.

Great idea, nonetheless.

I’m curious if they move Chychrun, don’t they need more top end defense talent. I’ve never seen Chychrun as a bonafide number 1 not on the level of some of the other high end defenseman in the league. They probably could use some high end defense prospects.

Personally, I think that trading Chychrun is a poor idea for Arizona. They should consider him one of their core pieces to build around. Without him, I don't see them having a ghost of a chance to contend for five seasons.

I think LA isn't in a hurry of getting Chychrun since they have a limited number of prospects. If they do get him, they'd be giving away too much talent. I'd look into getting someone in FA such as Ruuta etc or others who specializes on left side on a short contract and develop your left side defenceman prospects there.

"Limited number of prospects"? All of the surveys I've seen say LA has one of the top 3 pools of prospects in the League. In no particular order, Chromiak, Fa-gem-o, Helenius, Lee, Pinelli and Turcotte at forward to go with the already graduated Grundstrom, Kaliyev and Kupari, and Clarke Faber and Grans on defense to go with the already graduated Bjornfot, Durzi and Spence.

GM Rob Blake has already announced that one of the two prime objectives this off-season is a #1 LD, not a depth defenseman (even a quality one) like Rutta or Dillon or similar. So we're looking at players like Provorov and Sergachev in addition to Chychrun.

That's true. I just think if LA were to target Chychrun or Sergachev, they should find that balance of how much they're giving up for one of them since it is going to be a big trade. In addition, the Canucks may come calling since LA also needs a top line winger based on the threads I've seen and posts, Canucks can potentially give them Garland (who is a winger, has term and a reasonable cap hit) for one of your RD prospects (Grans, Spence etc) as so many threads have included.

Jacob Chychrun can't slash at an elite level, so not sure why he's on TBL...

Chychrun has 3 more years and a slightly less, but similar cap hit while Sergachev's contract will be up next offseason and he may want more money that Tampa may not afford. Arizona has more than enough cap space to sign him.

I don't really know about the fit for Chychrun and Tampa's style of play, but was curious since Tampa may want to extend their cup window by bringing in players with more term and an affordable cap hit like Chychrun.

The real question is: can he follow captain Steven Stamkos and get his stick across the back of Andrew Cogliano when nobody but me is watching? How do you explain that to your kids?

Canes would give up a second for Killorn. Helps with LW issues, but also with grit, PP, and more experience.
