From what I've seen from the rest of the ACGMs, the 7OA and Jarventie is just fine to get Fiala.

Minnesota wouldn't. They would just sign a cheaper backup or keep Talbot. Guerin absolutely won't and Minnesota isn't taking on that contract. So it's still a no. No disrespect but I watched Jake Allen whole he was in the central. He's not a good G and if Minnesota resigns Fleury, they would just keep Talbot and or sign a cheaper backup to Fleury. Talbot under Minnesota has been better than Jake

agreed especially if feury stays. im very curious how guerin will deal with the goalie situation since goalies are such in high demands right now. it would make more sense if allen was retained for sure.

Sens don't do this. with Minnesota's 1st, the value isn't too far off, but the Sens have no reason to get rid of an important and young piece of the middle 6 to get a late 1st back. Better off just doing 7thOA + a bit of added value (Jarventie, Lodin, etc) and not asking for Minnesota's 1st rounder in return

I think that makes sense. If you’re looking at a Jarventie/Lodin add on I think I’d rather take the TBL 2nd or OTT 3rd this year. I get the sense the front office likes draft ammo rather than mid prospects.

I also think something may be in the works for Gustavsson as well. He’s a year or 2 from UFA and it seems like it’s gonna be Forsberg and Murray given their cap hits. I could be very wrong on that tho.

I have to agree that these discussions are a lot more fun when we all acknowledge we don’t really run any NHL teams, and just banter a bit about all of this without the unnecessary barbs and know it all crap.

I’d have no qualms with adding Tampa’s 2nd instead of Jarventie/Lodin. Gustavsson I’d hesitate on because I’m still relatively high on him, but he’s also far from untouchable, so I wouldn’t die on that hill of him not being the extra piece

He’s a very interesting piece for the Wild. Even if Fiala doesn’t go there, I’d bet there’s a deal between the 2 teams.

7th overall and Formenton to acquire 25 year old 85 point scorer and move up 15 spots in the draft? Seems pretty reasonable to me

agreed a 1000%. i feel the discussions around can get a bit toxic fast. i come here for fun and to exchange opinions. none of us know what is going on in the nhl's offices.

i honestly disagree with the other sens fans saying that it’s not a good deal because forms is involved, upgrade the top 6, move down in the draft 15 spots. I also don’t see min letting fiala walk with getting atleast 1 roster player in return. This puts a guy with 85 points on a line with stutzle, well opening a roster spot for greig if he proves he is ready to make the jump to the nhl

It's not far but I would drop Formenton and that Minny first

Formenton is very high value for the Sens, easily a Top-15 pick so doubt they would give him on top of the 7th OA pick

interesting. depending on the sens fans, i feel some think formenton will be a core piece for the future and some do not really value him.

Not every hockey fan really understand hockey. For example, I often have to explain some rules to people I am playing with. They're not sure how icing and off-sides work, or where to take a face-off depending on the situation, etc

It doesn't mean that Forms won't stagnate or stall but based on elite asset (speed), his overall game and his development curve, it would be crazy to trade Formenton if it's not in a package for an impact player

I actually made a poll on another website in April asking "Would you have traded Alex Formenton for a late 1st round pick at the past deadline?"

118 votes for NO, 4 votes for YES (1 person admitted it was to troll)

People commenting (including a scout) were talking about they would start to consider around a top-15 pick, top-10 for some.

Thank you for listening to people who know, instead of being incredibly stubborn on a uninformed opinion, something that several people do on this site

i hear you. its usually just a good thing to go out and ask different opinion. most people here will claim to know hockey but will have vastly different opinions. maybe in hindsight one day it could be a good move to trade him now, but i understabd your reasoning on how it does not make sense do it at the moment.

thanka for taking ths time to answer!

Of course nobody knows the future and know even close to everything on a subject but the poll I had made was to verify this because a poster was actually arguing with me about Formenton value, saying he was not worth a 1st

We could all be wrong and wish we would have taken the offer in a few years but as of now, it is what it is.

It's like if I offer a 2nd for Romanov, I doubt Habs fans would be happy with it. They would tell me NO then imagine if I argue "he's not even worth this or that"

That type of behavior becomes annoying fast
