Quite frankly it's a terrible trade for the Pens.

They only move up 5 spots and losing Marino and Bluger doesn't make it worth it. Not to mention the players coming back are complete scrubs and would never even come close to making the Pens roster

I think you meant to put 9OA? If not that is a horrific trade for Pitt

Why on earth would Pitt do this? Trading away Marino and Blueger to move up 5 spots?

“To get cap space and move up in the draft”, that’s the response I got.

I assume they want to resign Rakell/Malkin/ Letang

This makes no sense as we would have to re sign someone to play 2RD. Yeah it “creates cap space” until July 13th when we have to go out and sign replacements for the guys we traded away.

Ottawa fans say that Marino + 21 OA is enough to get 7OA from them.

I’m a Pitt fan and trust me they would never do this

Blueger will NOT be traded. Good player on a good contract (pens have few of these guys)…. No go

Even taking out the 1st back from PIT the trade is still a no go…
Marino alone is worth a 1st and a good prospect at least

Depends on what you deem a "good prospect"

Whatever Pens fans suggested this has to be a troll. Can't move Marino unless Letang returns because after them it's Ruhwedel and absolutely nothing on the right side. Blue isn't going anywhere at all. Our best PK'er, best FO man and capable of moving up the lines signed to a great deal.

I do not believe Marino is a steady defender from what I watched of him. Owen Power needs a steady d partner not Marino

Well good thing it's just your eye test and not data that actually matters.

John Marino even in a down year was still a solid defensive defenseman… in his good year he was an elite defensive defenseman
How would you define steady? Like he’s a smooth skater, good puck mover… he’s a legit two way defenseman

B-level… not the top tier necessarily but a solid prospect… pit has like the 29th ranked prospect pool so we just need some high upside talent lol

I don’t think the penguins will trade Marino unless they get an NHL asset back
But that prospect is 22 and is going into his 6th year after being drafted and is still an AHLer…
If it’s a Marino trade strictly for futures then the pens are doing a retool around Sid probably and idk maybe hextall is good with that…
