Miller is a rental, and the Kings aren’t helping a division rival restock their cupboards for one year of Miller.

Miller wouldn't be a rental in case you didn't bother to check

So extend him and then we’ll talk.

He gets extended in this scenario. Don't be so cranky

I’m not, I’m being realistic, why does Miller do Canucks any favors, he is set to get paid next season as a UFA. But alrighty, constructive conversation we had here.

Extending to a team instead of going UFA, to maximize value to the Canucks.

Miller isn't the one who has all the leverage in a trade scenario, you're not understanding the situation properly. The Kings are the one's who have most of the leverage leverage is based on whether or not they want to give up a big enough trade package that would warrant the Canucks trading Miller to a team that will extend him

Secondly, it's in Miller's best interests to cash in on the career season he just had as oppose to waiting to test the free agent market next summer, because next season he could get injured or have a significantly less productive year. Taking all that into account, the chances of him making it to free agency aren't all that high to begin with

I think it’s unrealistic from several points of view

1. I believe Miller will test the free agency
2. The Kings are big on Faber and see him as Roy’s eventual replacement, I don’t see him being moved easily
3. The Kings are dying for goal scoring, I don’t see them moving ****emo or Chromiak, one of the centers is most likely in trades
4. The Kings are going to be reluctant to trade within division and potentially seeing their prospects against them regularly
5. Blake has been very conservative and reluctant to trade away 1sts in his tenure, especially in such a strong draft
6. The Kings who are set at center won’t pay the premium others would for Miller

Thing is with Boucher is that just because he was taken too early in the draft, people have this idea in their heads that it means he’s an awful prospect and has no value. presumably because they spend so much time thinking about why he’s not good enough to be taken at 10th, they never stop to think about why he would have gone in the top 2 rounds either way. considering Boucher was obviously a very specific target to fit a need by Dorion and co, and Pearson is just kinda a dude, who I’ve seen people on this website say “Pearson for a 3rd” a million times, if the Sens were in on Pearson for whatever reason, (not that he’s bad by any means, just not a needle-mover), I’d rather just go with a 3rd or whatever. so yeah, Sens say no

Miller can play the wing if necessary, and I just explained to you why he likely won't test free agency

I wouldn't trade Faber, even for Miller. Swap Faber for Grans or Spence, and then it would probably be considered (assuming Miller agrees to an extension).

Alright, we’ll wait and see, if your right it should happen this off-season. At this point, I see the Kings more in on Debrincat or the LD options at trade. But I don’t see Miller as the fit for Kopitar.

Fine, but Spence's value is nowhere near the value of Grans or Faber

Oh yeah, I totally understand if the Debrincat sweepstakes take priority over the Miller sweepstakes, but somebody likely will be content to settle for second prize

We are also in on Chychrun and the Philly for their Left shot defensemen. I think we can’t have too many irons in the fire, and knowing Blake I wouldn’t be surprised if he just goes conservative and gets some UFAs to one year contracts until he gets a deal he likes.

I don't agree. I think currently Spence has more value then either of them, considering his massive success in the AHL last season as a rookie. But you can take Grans if you want.

Wanting to keep Faber has nothing to do with value, but rather because Faber is the only defense-first RHD in the system. He's the heir apparent to Matt Roy, who will likely price himself out of his roster spot when his current contract expires.

Why would OTT draft the player *they* took at 10.

They obviously are high on the kid.

Boucher is largely regarded as being a reach for having been drafted top 10 in his year, might be in the Sens best interests to monetize him before the rest of the industry see's his underwhelming stock
