Description
JP is locked up long term, at the perfect time to get him for a low AAV, due to everyone harping on him for not having a high PPG, even though all his analytical statistics pan out in favor of generating W's for his team.

1750000, make the pick higher, and include a lower prospect, for all I care.

So if I understand this, you're paying other teams assets to retain salary on a player you're keeping? Almost positive the current CBA doesn't allow that. Not to mention Kane isn't signing anywhere for 3.5 nor for 1 year. He needs more than that just to cover the road games in Vegas lol

Name us on reason why the Sharks and coyotes eat 1/4 on EK? Neither team is going to help the Oilers out of their cap crunch without major sweeteners heading to both teams.

Have you ever seen the trade deadline where another team, a 3rd party, has become involved in the trade, to take on cap for the reward of an “asset” in a later round draft pick? It’s happened every year.

I don’t disagree with you. I am on the hopes of management seeing this as a “beneficial time” with the way everyone is scrutinizing his play to lock him up for long term. But I guarantee you the opposite will happen man.

Yes, you're correct but the difference is that's traded players and if I'm not mistaken, in that scenario the middle team technically gets the player traded to them with an asset(s), they retain further salary and trade said player to the final team. Here you are having teams retain salary on your player, not one being traded. Also SJ may end up paying some of his salary for free depending on the arbitration outcome.

the NHL is pushing for SJ to trade him, right now, before arbitration.
