I think the idea that Petry plus a cap dump gets you the fifth overall pick in this year's draft because van Riemsdyk is a bigger cap dump is over-reaching, especially in light of the retention.

That's probably the right value for the San Jose trade, but I think that the Sharks are in a position to prefer quality to quantity. That might be a deal which would appeal to a team like Arizona that needs everything, but San Jose would probably have a specific player in mind at #11.

Allegedly Mailloux has "reformed" himself but last I recall, the woman he committed the act with was not pleased with his pathetic attempts at "making amends"...Not to mention he missed most the OHL season after being suspended for said conduct certainly hampering his development. He would be booed every time he touched the ice in San Jose for at least a couple years. Yeah, this ain't happening...ever.
