Yeah you don’t watch hockey if you think Muzzin is a negative contract… his value dropped a lot but still worth at least a mid 2nd rounder

Does playing Chel count as watching hockey?

Na I wouldn’t do that, he’s got 2 years left on his deal and he blows.

I think a Monahan deal ends up looking pretty close to that. There’s only a handful of teams in the league that can even make that deal to take on over $6m in salary on a dead player.

I’m gonna admit I’m not hip to how much Muzzin has left in the tank but you lose me when you claim Mrazek to overtake Ned as the starter.

Nedjelkovic was actually very good last year; it was the defense in front of him that was terrible.

Why’s that? He ends up with a Tampa Bay Lightning team that just completed a three-peat. 😂

And I think completely differently. Vegas dumped over 5M in Schmidt's contract and got paid for it. They literally just dumped Dadonov for free too. Do they have some sort of special negotiating privilege?

Okay, bro keep Scandella then. Guy is terrible.

I figured STL could use his money on bringing somebody else in there through free agency to put your team over the top.

mrazek was almost as good as ned last year and he had terrible injury luck. good goalies still put up at least decent numbers behind terrible defences. Ned was not good last year.

He's not terrible, get a grip. First of all, asking a 2nd and a 3rd for someone who is not a straight cap dump is ludicrous. And that's even before we factor in the far less useful player whose contract you want to dump. Somehow that got glossed over in your math.

First of all the Dadanov situation was weird, with the whole botched trade at the deadline which included paying a 2nd rounder to move him. And Idk how the whole taking the Shea Weber contract works but, yeah.

Nate Schmidt is a good player. Sean Monahan looks like his career is on life support. He looks legit like an AHLer out there.

Why would Calgary keep him and his salary when they have to drop $28m on Tkachuk, Gaudreau & Mangiapane? Especially when they have a Stanley Cup roster otherwise???

You make a very valid point on the gloss, I got lazy and heavily glossed over the contact I was sending back over. If I take him out, would that make you feel better?

Nope. This Scandella is terrible stuff is so overwrought. He struggled on the 1st pairing, but was excellent after they shifted him down a pairing or two, and he was statistically the best player on a good Blues PK all season long. Is he overpaid by 1M? Sure. Is he some pure cap dump? Nah. That's some Dom at The Atheltic crap.

I didn't even bother reading down further after I saw the Muzzin trade. If Muzzin agrees and Detroit and Tampa agree... I have no issue. Leafs move 20m in cap for a 1st and receive a mid pick with no cap coming back. Sounds too good to be true. Most likely is.
