Sharks already have an Eller-esque player in Bonino signed for about half the price. No reason for the Sharks to trade Reimer for someone redundant AND add a prospect.

Weatherby is almost a decade younger, is on a way cheaper contract, and expires as an RFA. Yes, currently Eller is the better player but Weatherby can definitely get to that point in a couple of years.

spending ~ 8.75 million on a bunch of bad depth pieces would be disastrous. Don't think its what MacLellan is gearing up for anyways
