Pierre Lebrun: the asking price for Debrincat is a younger player, a top prospect and a high pick.

Brannstrom, Ridley Greig, 7oa.

I wouldn't be paying anymore than the asking price for Debrincat. I think he's a bit overrated at the moment considering half his goals are set ups from Patrick Kane. If your team doesn't have a playmaker or incredible passer like Kane I suspect his goal total will drop to around 20-25 goals a season. I do believe Stutzle is a very good playmaker and could fit well with Debrincat but I would not overpay for him. Here is proof of my comment, its a video of debrincats highlights from last season I do see debrincat as smart with a incredible shot however his numbers are inflated by Kane and I believed a team will massively overpay. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YsdPHldxRE

This is my opinion and I know I'm not the majority. Sry Angry Chicago fans

I think Chicago's definitely trying to sell him at a high and hope no one notices.

The issue moving forward will be how much does he get paid after this year. If he has another lights out year he's going to command $8 million at least if not more this is where it gets tricky in terms of acquiring him. I dont believe CHI needs to deal him as they will have plenty of CAP ROOM next year once Kane and Toews contracts are done.

I find it kinda crazy that Chicago wants a better package return for Debrincat than Buffalo got for Eichel. I think Chicago is trying to sell high since the market is gonna be hot this offseason but I think they will get a whole lot less than they wanted considering Buffalo wanted like 3 FRP for Eichel

OTT is not trading away 2 players (Grieg and the 7thy) that will out score and and point total cat by atleast a 2 to 1 margings for 10+ years while cat has 5-6 years of NHL career left and at him what 9M+ no thanks .

You can't guarantee the 2/1 on a draft pick. Also, as I've said many times before, you can't hoard all your porspect and expect your team to win. Debrincat automatically turns this team into a 2 line scoring machine instead of 1. OTT has plenty of prospects, they can afford to move 1 or two of them and picks to make their team competitive now.

Value seems very good for Chicago. Greig might be worth almost as much as the 7th overall. His stock has shot up a lot since the Senators took him in the first round a few years ago. While not an exact science, Craig Button's top affiliated prospect list had him ranked 18th, just behind high draft picks like Rossi, Holtz, and Guenther.

It is not a fit for Ottawa. Debrincat has too much leverage because of his QO. Ottawa is unlikely to want to pay him 9M x 2, and then lose him to free agency after giving up BOTH Greig and 7th overall. They are also unlikely to meet what I would imagine his demands would be on a 7 year extension, which would include huge signing bonuses, and a NMC.

The only way I can see this remotely making sense for Ottawa is if they strike out everywhere else, and Chicago agrees to take Murray as part of the trade. Then Debrincat only costs Ottawa an additional 3 million in salary over the next two seasons.

I don't think the market will be all that hot for star forwards. There are so many star forwards who are going to be available due to the cap.

I think we're seeing teams like Ottawa and New Jersey put up their picks because the top end of this draft is weaker and more uncertain than usual, and circumstantially both those teams just happen to have incentive to improve now at the expense of the future.

Realistically, I don't think Chicago gets a package as good as 7th overall + Greig + Brannstrom. I could be wrong.

JT Miller is the only forward who will get a blow away package.

I agree Chicago doesn't have to but they're selling this offseason they're in full rebuild mode giving away their veterans they want to trade them away for a return. Like Kane and Toews.

Its a good point but it is not set in stone. they could draft a bust or Greig doesn't answer expectations which I don't think will happen but its possible.

Yes you're right moving prospects and picks for help now is what they're trying to do or should be doing. the point of this Discussions is to debate if Debrincat is worth all the picks asked by the team and fans from this website.
