As a leafs fan I’d do that. Benefits leafs by freeing up 5.8M in cap. Buffalo gets a middle 6 Winger, 3rd, C tier prospect, bottom pairing D and a goalie who could bounce back if he can find a way to stay healthy. I mean ya if I’m Buffalo I’m eating that up.
While most Sabre fans go apoplectic at the mere mention of Mrázek, that is exactly as I see the trade.
Mrázek, could become a reclamation project for Mike Bales. His SV% was not much lower than Anderson's, so he would be an over paid back up to Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.
Duszak as you said a "C" RHD prospect who can score at the AHL level and help the Amerks make the playoffs again.
Holl would be the Sabres second signed RHD behind Jokiharju. At worse he would be the seventh defenseman, at best he could be paired with Dahlin or Power.
Kase his presence on the roster would give the Sabres the flexibility to trade Olofsson if they wanted, or allow their young guns Quinn (20 yo, born Sep 19 2001) and Peterka (20 yo, born Jan 14 2002) a chance to spend another year in the AHL developing their defensive skills.
2022 3rd round pick (WPG) and of course a 79th OA pick.
As I said, most Sabre ACGM's immediately reject ANY trade involving Mrázek or the thought of helping the Leafs to get below the cap ceiling.
Maybe they are correct, but IMO Petr lost his confidence (wow he let in some really ugly goals) that maybe Mike Bales could give back to him.
