So basically Chicago is gonna give up Draft capital for Alex Kerfoot and also take Jake Muzzin and Petr Mrazek’s contracts in the deal? Terrible deal for Chicago.

Toronto will need to add significantly to dump Mrazek. Kerfoot is worth a 3rd and Muzzin with injury status and cap hit is worth a 4th. So this is bad

Muzzin doesn't waive and Mrzarek is an expensive cap dump. Leafs fans better use to the idea that 5.6m Muzzin is a Leafs for at least one more year.

I would say 2nd for kerfoot and yeah I guess a 4th. I think at this point Muzzin is worth fututure considerations. I see no reason for Chicago to be giving leafs back anything in this trade. Add to it that Chicago doesn't want any of those 3 players and Muzzin isn't waiving to Chicago and I don't think that there is any trade that makes sense.

Muzzin would get more than that alone, kerfoot too.

Muzzin isnt a cap dump at all. If he's on the block hes going to get massive interest

I wish that were true. But it simply isn't. If Muzzin has any positive value it isn't a lot.

it is very true. He's a cup winning physical defender who can PK, play the power play if needed and is still good defensivly. one half a rough season doesnt change that. If he played for st louis or dallas or whatever leafs fans here would be clamouring to give up a 1st and robertson for him

But he is not. He is on a team that needs to shed cap, and that alone drives down his value. He is not a bad player but one that has a record of concussions of late, he is older, slower and on a Leaf team that needs cap space. There are few teams that can and will take on his contract and will do so with some kind of sweetener. Mrazek has zero interest as he was waived and no team claimed him. He makes almost 4 million over the next two years, has a bad record with on one of the elite teams. Kerfoot is a good 3rd line player but again everyone knows that Leafs need to shed cap and will not just take on cap dollars for picks.

the mummy that used to be duncan keith got positive value last year. Ristolainin, who is the worst defensive player in the league most nights got a haul. Muzzin brings back possitive value no doubt at all, the leafs needing cap doesnt change that, he's a desired asset and pretending otherwise is simply just wanting to stick it to the leafs because they are the leafs.
Mrazek had significant interest last season when he was healthy according to the insiders so if he's healthy again, he can easily bring back a nick ritchie like return at the max cost of a 2nd two years from now and he actually has a decent record with good teams.
Dubas has successfully shed cap and gotten value out of it for years, but every year people pretend he's gonna have to give up massive amounts of assets just because Lou backed him into an impossible situation with Marleau

... not if they go by his metrics. At that cap hit with a loose head and twi knee braces. I wouldn't pay much. For the leafs it's about moving his cap.

You're right about one thing... some GM's are absolute dummies. Maybe dubas can find one of those. But he's still going to have to hope Muzzin will waive.

his metrics when healthy were perfectly fine, and he's paid more than fairly for what he brings. The leafs want to move money, but there's a difference between clearing cap and a cap dump
