Unfortunately Habs won’t get that type of return for Petry IMO. A 1st round pick and a B level prospect seems to be the market for him

Not even, with his deal the Habs will get a 2nd and maybe a B prospect. His Contract will hurt any deal made.

If a deal was made with Dallas I’m assuming Khudobins contract would be going to Montreal which would help. My mock trade was:
Petry, Edm 2nd (50th overall)
For
Khudobin, Dal 1st (18th overall)

What do you guys think if the trade was simply their 2023-2nd + mavrick bourque for petry + habs 3rd (so basically removing their 1st round pick from the trade) seems more plausible and actually interesting for both teams no?

I think it’s a better chance if you remove Bourque and keep the 1st in the trade. Teams usually want to keep the guys they’ve drafted in the first round

as a MTL fan i would like this DAL trade but you will get destroyed by DAL fan .
i think the asking price for Petry is close to what we receive for Lekhonen :
prospect B+1st round OR prospect A + 2nd round
here i add a 2nd on MTL side to receive a 1st
in my FANTASY ACGM i made important word here is FANTASY.
i think it would be closer to :
to Dallas :
Petry
2023 2nd round
vs to MTL :
Bourque
2023 1st round
draft pick are in2023 because it will happen after the draft and the start of UFA if Dallas cannot get a replacement for Klingberg with UFA.

I think this is very accurate but adding Khudobins contract to the trade to offset Petrys cap.

Dallas declines if you have a 1st Round pick involved OR any of the following players: Johnston, Stankoven, or Bourque

The Stars aren’t in a dire cap situation so the need for them to move Khudobin’s contract simply isn’t there. Best you’re going to get from Dallas is something along the lines of:

2nd Round Pick
Connor Roulette/Ty Dellandrea/Artem Grushnikov

for

Jeff Petry

Anything more than that and it’s simply not worth the risk for Dallas, not when they can go get a slightly worse option like Tyson Barrie for far cheaper & he’ll cost less against the cap.
