I would rather Dallas keep their first. With the retention on Petry this deal is not too bad.

I saw that there was an Anderson rumour involving the Islanders pick, but CBJ was in there as well. So, I wonder what a 3-way would look like and what would be coming out of CBJ.

you are selling way too low for your player
asking price
Anderson for 1st + 2nd or 3rd
Petry no retention for 1st + prospect B OR prospect A + 2nd (value close to Lekhonen)
Dvorak for 1st + 3rd or 4th

you are low on all 3 trades

if we can have this now just wait you will have close to it at next TDL no rush to trade any of them.

WSH would probably go after a proper replacement for Backstrom if he's going on LTIR since there is the potential that his career ends after the surgery like Kesler. There are better options available out there in the trade market and in free agency.

Dvorak is going to return less than the 1st+2nd that they acquired him for, probably more than the difference of a 2nd to a 3rd/4th.

I thought this was going to be the widespread rumor that Montreal is sending their 1st rounder and Kidney to the NYI for Bailey and Varlamov.

There’s no chance montreals retaining salary on Petry.. never happens in real life. They may take on Khudobins contract instead. With Prices future in question I think they’ll wait to trade Allen at the trade deadline. That way primeau doesn’t flounder in the NHL and has some help

i agree with you we will get less that what we paid, but not as much as you not a lot more than the difference of a 2nd to a 3rd/4th.
i think we can get a 1st and a little something else but i don't know what

If you can find the link I’m curious. Not sure I would want Anderson under many circumstances, unless Bailey was somehow involved

Dvorak is great in the circle, but at least if he were going to WSH idk if they would want to give more than a 1st for him. Would depend on what the market is like for a guy like Roy from VGK who is weaker in the circle than Dvorak but had similar production to him last year. I do think they would rather go after Miller, Smith, or Kadri. I remember they were linked to two Cs just can't recall who they are.

But yeah, who knows a 1st and 3rd/4th might be something someone pays, I think though teams might rather give up the equivalent in 2nds or prospects instead, if their first might be a top 15 (ofc everyone is doing top 10 protection).

MTL does want to move cap, so I think GMs will try to be a bit of a pirate when trying to acquire a guy like Dvorak.

in what sense is Dvorak not a proper replacement? He's a 50 point centre with top 10 face-offs in this league... Hes a second line center. Not to mention he has 3 years left on a very fair deal.

Only been able to find what the OP was talking about which is probably the part that you are interested in anyways.

sorry but the value is fair on all of these. if Montreal made all these moves we'd be set to start competing for the playoffs after another top 3 pick in 2023

Dallas does need to give up a 1st for petry, same with Washington for Dvorak and the islanders for Anderson.

Yeah, he's a great centermen and solid 2C but his production isn't going to replace Backstrom's and if this is a long-term thing that would be needed. He's better than both Backstrom and Kuz in the circle so it isn't a bad idea, but if he doesn't produce more than 50pts with them that makes him more of a 3C. So if they get him, I think they would try to get him for cheaper than his value.

By proper replacement, I meant guys like JT Miller and Kadri who have shown they can be just as strong as Dvorak, and probably are expected to have pt/game production at the least next year. In reality, Dvorak might be the better option if they can acquire him for cheap since his next contract will likely be much lower than the other two but I can see those guys being more attractive to the CAPS who are in a win now mode with their aging core.

Is he legit? I almost have more Twitter followers than him. Lol

Cost seems too expensive. Would need to see what else shakes out for the Isles though before I could have a full opinion on it

No clue if he's legit lol. I wouldn't be surprised though, it seems that Anderson has a lot of interest around the league as a "30-goal scorer" who is locked, even though he only had a 27 goal season, 26 goal pace in another and 22 goal pace last year on a bad MTL team (which I'm assuming he's getting the benefit of the doubt on).

You can tell though that an Anderson trade is likely to make one of the two fan bases pretty upset in the long-term.

He has not been a 50 point center yet, and pretty much proved this year that he would be a really good 3c on a contender but can't be a 2c. The value on this proposed trade is fine and I think the caps' future assets are 100% in play, but I don't think they are going to move them unless they are really getting a premium piece back. Dvorak is not that piece

He was on pace for 50pts on a bad MTL team so maybe he gets the benefit of the doubt on that, but the fact that MTL is moving him suggests that they don't trust him as their 2C, which would be alarming to interested teams. So, I agree with you that teams would probably consider him more of a good 3C if they are trading for him.

The biggest issue though is 50pts is not enough to replace Backstrom's production, and Dvorak doesn't seem to be a particularly good goal scorer or playmaker.
