Make it top 3 protection and I'm sold on the Fiala trade.

I probably wouldn't do it, and I don't think the Leafs necessarily would want to do it, but I think they would meet Campbell camp in the middle and sign him to that- leafs get the term, Campbell his money. Blackwood is not good and has injury issues (and maybe team issues- vaccine). He would be fine as a buy low guy, but that is not this. Vukojevic kid I like, but he's probably not a top4 guy, and definitely not higher than Sandin. This trade is not close.

I would also be fine with top 7 protection and the Wild get 4th rounder that becomes a 3rd rounder if NJs pick lands in the top 7 (that third would be a top 72 pick) if Guerin doesn’t have faith in Fiala or maybe a 4th that becomes a 2nd if Fiala scores 85+ points in 2022 if Guerin has faith in Fiala.

Not sure how other MN fans or NJ fans would feel about those stipulations, but it would at least protect NJ from a loss of a top 7 pick in a deep class and give the Wild a little extra capital.

Are you bleeping joking. You are honestly getting less than zero. Why not just say the first rounder is top 31 protected. You realize they have 4 seasons of Kaprizov and he might be gone. So, you're trading the second best forward on the team for a bust, a dream and a pick that likely won't help you for 3 to 4 years.

Outside of Rossi the Wild don't have much dynamic offensive talent and Zacha is a 35 point scorer period. The Wild are heavy on D and bottom 6 forwards and you've got them trading for zip. Let's say the Devils pick 24th in 2023. That player won't be an impact player until 2025-26 which will be Kirill's last season in MN.

VGK accepts. Getting rid of Brossaint's salary here and still getting that return is something that actually makes this Hague trade worth it IMO

You realize I’m a Wild fan, right? Top 3 protection is fine on a 1st round pick.

I’m trading Fiala for a solid Russian prospect that has put up great numbers, a nice 1st round pick in a great draft, and Zacha who can likely be traded for another pick.

Who do you think the Wild are getting?
