If Pasta wants out read description

Description
If Pasta wants out, Sweeney should discuss a sign and trade with him to facilitate a trade, assuming that number is 10mx8 (which is equivalent to ~11.4mx7). Then he should ask teams what they would give for Pasta+Debrusk along with a one of their star players (all the "trades" I proposed are just skeletons)

Some of the teams I have thought of the guys I thought of are Panarin, Marner, Dubois, and Eichel as a long shot. Below is some info to put things into perspective a bit.

In the last 6 years Pasta has a 1.09 Pts/G ratio (14th best), and the 5th most goals (behind Matthews, Ovechkin, Draisaitl, and McDavid).
Marner has 1.07PTS/G (16th) and defensive aspects to his game
Panarin has 1.15Pts/G (tied for 9th) which is good for 6th most points in the last 6 years (Kucherov missed a whole season, so he has 25 points less but a 1.33Pts/G, so you can think of Panarin as 7th most).
Eichel is at 0.99pts/G career in the last 6 years. His career G/GP is 0.37 vs Pastrnak's 0.47.

In terms of value all Pasta for all 3 guys would have to be considered a 1 for 1. Boston is going to get additional value for the cap relief (even though technically they aren't getting any), and the value of DeBrusk.

In all 4 cases, the other team is going to have to add things, some more than others.

Let me know what you guys think a complete trade would look for any of these, or if you have other suggestions.

Trades
1.
BOS
  1. Panarin, Artemi
Additional Details:
Apparently Drury was upset with Panarin, but what might be attractive is that NYR can add 4.9m in rentals while getting a comparable player long-term.

https://nyrangersnews.com/2022/06/23/chris-drury-was-reportedly-unhappy-with-artemi-panarins-play-in-the-playoffs/
2.
BOS
  1. Marner, Mitchell
Additional Details:
Similar to the Rangers, the Leafs would be able to add a 4.2m but in their case it would probably be DeBrusk since they have less cap flexibility in comparison.

Nylander and Pasta are friends so perhaps they can find chemistry together, and Debrusk with Bunting+Matthews might work like it did with Marchand+Bergeron.
TOR
3.
BOS
  1. Dubois, Pierre-Luc [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
PLD might still only sign 2 years with Boston, but that's two years to convince him to stay, and they would be getting rid of DeBrusk and getting good value for him. PLD for Pastrnak is far from a 1 for 1, so they would be getting a huge haul consisting of team controlled assets, along with PLD.
WPG
4.
BOS
  1. Eichel, Jack
Additional Details:
It's a long-shot since Eichel is a new addition and he probably wouldn't sign off on the trade.

This trade might help them with juggling the cap which they have to do for Eichel anyways, but taking on on DeBrusk's contract might cancel that out since that would be 14m with Pasta's extension next year (will be a sign and trade, assuming 10m*8).

Perhaps they could give them Eichel+Karlsson for Pastrnak+DeBrusk, but this might cause VGK a problem down the middle, depends on Smith and Roy I guess and if they can be signed and play as 1C and 2C.

Putting PLD in that category of player is preposterous

Zero chance the Jets trade Dubois for a rental winger that won't re-sign in Winnipeg and wouldn't waive in the first place.

Dubois would fit Boston's play so well. Also a Leaf killer he is.

But he's not fetching Pasta.
The Eichel one makes the most sense

He's not in the same category, you can think of it as moving Debrusk for PLD, but PLD has more value than DeBrusk. The rest of Pasta's value would probably come in future picks, and some roster player would need to be included probably for the cap.

Interesting thoughts. Rangers might like the trade in year one, as it gives them a little cap relief. Heck in summer of 2023 even if trade DeBrusk and Pasta walks, then they have 11m in cap instead of Panarin.
Same thought with the Leafs. Leafs get cap space in year one, and even if Pasta walks in summer of 2023, Leafs have 11m without Marner cap.
I like the Ranger and Leafs trades the best.

They are getting Pasta extended, so losing Debrusk isn't that big of a deal since they will likely lose Dubois anyways. The question is what else would they have to add on top.

The assumption though is that Pasta is coming with an extension, so the Leafs and Rangers are going to have to add some for the value of that extra cap this year, and for Debrusk as well.

Question is what would the Leafs and Rangers have to add if Pasta is coming with a 10mx8 extension to pay for that first year relief and DeBrusk.

It doesn't really matter what would be added because Pastrnak isn't waiving for Winnipeg and the Jets wouldn't be looking for an older, expensive winger if they move Dubois.

Yeah, I'm sure Panrin wants out of a team he forced his way to joining because Drury may he been critical of his play in the TB series. Yeah, makes complete sense. I hear Igor wants out too because Drury looked at him funny.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect Pasta to want to go there but Sweeney can still try to see what they would give. I would think WPG would want to move Wheeler in that trade. The biggest reason why a trade with WPG wouldn't work is if Pasta doesn't want to go.

I would have that trade in the 4th spot, if Eichel wasn't just recently traded and his chances to make it deep in the playoffs in the Pacific on VGK is probably better than in the Atlantic on BOS once especially if this is Bergeron's last year. He probably also has other reasons to want to stay in Vegas like taxes.

I didn't say Panarin wants out...I just mentioned that as a small reason as to why Drury would even consider moving him and take Sweeney's call instead of hanging up. Panarin can block a trade, but doesn't mean it can't be discussed between the two GMs

The chance Panrin wants a trade is ZERO. The chance Drury wants to trade him is ZERO. It's all nonsense.

I doubt Drury wouldn't consider trading Panarin if he can get Pasta in a sign and trade, since that gives him even more cap flexibility for this year. Not to mention that Pasta is 5 years younger and would have 5 more years in term at a slightly cheaper contract if he's extended at 10x8m. I have the stats from the last 6 seasons up the description, what Pastrnak lacks in points, he makes it up in goals.

It's fair to say that Panarin would have zero interest but to say that Drury wouldn't have any at all is probably not true.

Explain your position to me about Drury not considering Panarin for Pastrnak in a straight one for one if Pastrnak was extended at 10mx8 (or even at the same cap hit).

These are the facts:

In the last 6 years:

Pastrnak (26) has a 1.09 Pts/G ratio (14th best), and the 5th most goals (behind Matthews, Ovechkin, Draisaitl, and McDavid).
Panarin (turning 31) has 1.15Pts/G (tied for 9th) which is good for 6th most points in the last 6 years (Kucherov missed a whole season, so he has 25 points less but a 1.33Pts/G, so you can think of Panarin as 7th most).

Career stats (GP,G,A,PTS): Pastrnak 510 240 264 504 VS Panarin 508 187 382 569

Contract:
Panarin $11,642,857x4 years
Pastrnak $6,666,667x 1 years (if he gets extended by BOS at 10mx8 then traded, that's 5 years more of Pastrnak guaranteed. Drury would probably still consider a 1 for 1 if they had the same cap hit as well)

Lol, if WPG doesn't take the Blues 2022 2nd pick for Copp and take the Rangers 2023 2nd instead, perhaps that trade can look better one day.

I feel like if any team traded for Pastrnak they would be trying to compete and wouldn't want to give up a star player, and that Boston would be rebuilding and want futures. A 2 first round pick + top prospect + young roster player combo is much more likely than any of these deals

How about team chemistry. Does that mean anything? Panarin has been a team leader through the rebuild and the teams best forward, and is universally loved by his teammates and coaching staff. He is one of the best LW's in the NHL and has done nothing but be GREAT while he has been in NY. How is that for a reason? No thanks to Pasta, Rangers will be very happy to keep Panarin for his entire contract.

Yeah, they are so bad......Gallant was a finalist for coach of the year and Drury was nominated as GM of the year, the team had 110 point season, and played 20 playoff games losing to the 2x defending champs. All this while being the 3rd youngest team in the league. Yeah, the Rangers need to fire them both asap.

I guess it depends if they sign Bergeron or not, but even then a full blown rebuild wouldn't make sense since they have the piece on the back-end. Maybe tanking for Bedard would make sense if they don't sign Bergeron and trade Pasta and Marchand, then try competing the year after but even that doesn't make much sense.

Panarin isn't too old to fit with the Bruins guys but I included DeBrusk in there so they hit two birds with one stone, and they would be able to get future assets.
