He would most likely sign long term for his home town team

Would you trust a dude that has already told 2 teams he won't resign. Sounds like a big time diva to me

So you'd be prepared to give him $10 over 8? Cause that's what it's gonna take for him to give up UFA. He's not the kinda player that takes a hometown discount.

I say trade him to Montreal after a one year deal to see if he changes his attitude if he does sign him if not trade him so they can sign him long term already confirmed he wants to play there by murat ates

Totally agree with both of you loyalty don't seen to be a value PLD have and feel like a bit diva.

Trading for him would cost to much asset to be effective because he would be wanting 8 years deal with a range of 9 to 10 millions per years and I don't give that. I would prefer to have player in Suzuki / Caufield range salary cap.

For me Caufield will be sign on a similar contract Suzuki is.

I'm going to say no one beats that but I also don't see anyone giving up that much for him. Since you have Detroit as your 2nd favorite team think about it like this: Assuming Montreal would overpay for PLD because he is French-Canadian is really no different from assuming Detroit wants Petry because he is from Detroit.

Yep that notion has always bugged me too. Throw Toronto in there too.

Given the context of him wanting to test the market, and likely not signing with most teams, that is an insanely good offer for Winnipeg, even if it is known that PLD will re-sign long term with Montreal.

Players who will only sign with a single team or two teams, they never get full value, even know they are technically traded with an extension. In a scenario where PLD says he will only sign long term in Montreal, Montreal only has to bid against teams offering up packages valued at what 2 years of PLD would be valued at.

Jets GM will probably be a bit pressure to reduce the price after some time pass some team would probably lowball him and one would give a bit better and to not lost is player for nothing would probably accept it.

They will end up swapping him for a different star player because there is no way that trading him for futures will be productive, since they won't get a ton.

The exception would be if they decide to tear it down, and do a full rebuild.

If I'm the Jets, I don't want Dvorak. I want a good defenceman who's top 2 capable.
