Habs would NEVER do that deal... But the fact that you signed Romanov to a 2 yr bridge deal at 2M when he has already turned down 3M and are playing him in a bottom pair and on the right side shows that you do not understand that player at all
This is True
Romanov can play RD but he takes WAY more penalties
His style of Hockey is about playing the body right now
Until he gets more seasoning gaining more confidence with the puck
I wouldnt want him on Right Side as playing your off side opens you to blind side hits along the boards.
Mete for example played RD twice
Got injured the first time out for i think 3 weeks after getting rode into the boards
2nd time he came back a player just outright ran over him leading to Claude benching him that game
He was waived and claimed not too long after
Ordinarily to play your off side as a D you either got to be Big and Strong like Edmundston or Chiarot
Or you have to have really strong control with your back hand like like Jordie Benn had always making smart controlled back handed plays
Romanov is in a Grey area between both as he's still packing on Muscle and developing his stick handling
I'd keep him on LD for atleast 2 more seasons
If they want a bottom pair RD Savard is available and actually played really well last year after he stunk up the first 25 games.
He'll be way easier to move then Petry as his effort or play was never in question just whether or not he fit the system.
Petry on the other hand we have to rebuild his Reputation as a Leader to justify the price tag he carries
