You are by far the biggest Homer/slash leaf hater on this site dude. Someone could post Matthews for Miller straight up and you would decline it and say Matthews is too flashy Miller is better.

Nylander is a point a game player making 2 million more than Garland who is a 40+50 point winger making 1.5 more than Kerfoot who is the same player. This isn't just a little upgrade, it's a massive upgrade. You're ridiculous

How am I a homer for stating the obvious. Our GM and President of hockey operations have already stated we are not trading high picks but rather acquiring them. Am I wrong to say that the Canucks shouldn’t, and won’t be trading a first round pick just so they can upgrade on wing? It makes no sense for them to do that. If you get upset about people making genuine comments, you need to check yourself into therapy

Chicago says no and aside from that leaf’s don’t need another forward they need defence.
It’s their worst position

You’re not going to outscore teams in the playoffs

You will be very lucky to get a player of Nylander's calibre with that 1st. But Nylander is just a more expensive Garland right?

Like how long is this nonsense going to continue? Defence hasn't been the problem for like 3 years.

yeah, that's not true at all, the leafs biggest need by far is another top 6 foward who can play LW. The last 3 years they didnt win in crucial moments because they couldnt score past 2-3 guys. this "leafs need defence" narrative hasnt been true in years

leaf fans are all in dream land.
you need that big stud dman that teams who win the cup have .. Keith & Seabrook for the hawks , Chara with the Bruins, Doughty with the Kings, Hedman with the Bolts, Makar with the Avs ect. The only team that comes to mind is the 2016-17 Penguins won with a defense by committee but they also had Crosby and Malkin who were on another level. Leafs don't need another top winger. you have bigger issues to fix. get a 3rd line that can shut down the other teams top line ie Cirelli type of player so Matthews and Marner on home ice can play against teams weaker lines. you're not going to outscore teams in the playoffs, it doesn't work.

You literally just said they need that d man and gave an example of a team who won without it just a few years ago. Last two playoffs they couldn’t score it clutch situations, overtimes, late game powerplays. You can always use better defence but it’s not why they are losing. It’s not like they can just go trade for a top 10 guy in the league anyways, their not available. Gotta build the defence as deep as possible which they have tried with adding muzzin, Brodie, developing holl, sandin, liligren. Trading for gio.

They should of spent more futures on a top 6 winger with term this past deadline, hard to give up more picks and prospects but they beat Tampa if they paid the price for JT Miller or someone that could make an impact.

yeah, you havent watched a single leafs game since the carlyle years have you? the leafs need a scoring winger more than a defender by far. the leafs defense shut down tampas big guns almost totally without that 'big stud' defender you claim they need and then lost a 2-1 game where the goal scorers were pat maroon and morgan rielly

Super easy pass for vancouver. Garland has a better contract and is better 5v5. We don’t need to upgrade our powerplay so Nylnder is luxury we really don’t need to waste assets on

The Leafs biggest need for Leafs with Campbell unsigned is goaltending. They also need a 2LW but not just for one year, Mikheyev is going to be gone so they need to replace a pker, and perhaps getting someone who can help Engvall-Kampf be a shutdown line.

As for defense, Liljegren and Sandin are going to need to make strides and if they do, they would be in a great position with D along with the guys they already have. With Muzzin still on the team though, perhaps trading Sandin makes sense, if they can get DeAngelo (means he's overpriced himself out of Car, so perhaps 5.5-6m) maybe that would make their team better both offensively and defensively. Moving Holl and Kerfoot would free the 5.5m, Joey Anderson would then need to be Mikheyev's cheap replacement. Robertson will play the 2LW and if Knies joins the Leafs towards the end of the year, he can replace him. Bringing back Blackwell as 4C probably makes sense, he would play with Simmonds and Anderson. Which leaves the 3RW position open if Engvall takes the left side.

Trading for Kane might be nice but losing Nylander for Garland would make the team worse probably, in the long-term at the very least.

The core+team are going to need to come together somehow that results them in becoming a harder team to play against.

They are a hard team to play against. They gave Tampa very little in round one but lost partially due to bad reffing and partially because Vasilevsky was a couple saves better than Campbell. When the Leafs are on their game which is becoming more and more consistent, they are plain dominant. They have the puck, keep the puck and cycle you down until they get great chances from the dangerous areas. Then on defence they swarm their net and keep it outside. If they get rid of the odd man rushes against (their only Achilles heal) they would be utterly dominant. What team most resembles the Leafs? Colorado. They are just took the next step sooner. To think TO doesn't have a blueprint that works is plain anti leaf bias because Colorado does the same stuff TO does and they just won the cup. And Tampa's hardest round prior to the final was round 1.

Because he's a luxury we may not be able to afford. And if that's the case why on earth would we want a less versatile and more expensive version of him? Garland is obviously an overpaid player. 75% of Canuck fans are on here trading him daily. Usually for a 1st and a top prospect. If he's so good why are you reading him? I absolutely guarantee, if he was making Kerfoot's money, no one would ever trade him. But a 5 million dollar middle 6 50 point winger isn't worth 5 million.
