Lines up with Muzzins contract expiration either way so I'm a fan

Yes, but Nylander and Matthews will probably want raises. In 3 years Tavares will be off the books or signed for cheaper.

You could go back forth like this forever.
Just make an ACGM and see that Lilly and Sandin at 2 years makes a lot of sense with Muzz and Brodie coming off the books.
Its the best plan for the short term and makes sense for when they need to re-sign.

All my recent Acgm created lately had Lily at 2 years for $1.5 million.... Damn I'm good.

Voted no, huge overpay

If it wasn't Mr. Dinkie I'd think this was a joke. How is 1.4 a huge overpay? That's the going rate for bottom pairing guys, and Lili has top 4 upside.

Was expecting 1.75 million per. Great signing. If Sandin can sign for 1.5 per would be great

Sandin should come in at the same or cheaper. But that's using logic not agents.

Nice work by Dubas. Gio and Liljegren as a pair for $2.2M is fantastic.

We can finally put the offer sheet posts to rest.

Giving props to the wrong guy. This was Pridham.

Good signing in a vacuum but the Leafs NEED cap space

And we just gained some. 1.4m fir a top 4 that will most likely be playing top pair is a steal. Just the type of contracts keafs need.

Was doing some maths and something interesting came up

If Dubas moved Mrazek, Kerfoot and Holl depending on the direction he goes with the 4th line and backup goaltending he can bring in a 5mill starter and have enough room to bring in a 3-4mill LW

And this was after I gave

Sandin 1.4mill
Engvall 1.75mill
Kase 2mill

And Campbell 5mill

Wouldn’t surprise me at all. I think with some time him and Rielly will make a good pairing. But at the very least he’s a bottom pairing guy (it cannot be debated that he is less than that), and 1.4 for a solid 3rd pairer is a normal price.

1.4m for the numbers he put up this year is a steal. Who could debate he isn't a top 4.

I'd be very weary of giving Kase that kind of $$$. I liked his production but the injuries concern is quite high in my eyes.

I'd go in a different direction instead of signing Kase and with your math, a goalie for 5 million can still be a thing.

The thing is Kase got a concussion because Duchene threw an elbow to the head

Like Kase was crashing into boards and nets got rocked by Zadorov but came back with no issues.

If that play never happened guaranteed Kase plays 70 games in the season

So the injury really was out of his control as anyone who got elbowed in the head would be concussed

But in general our med staff kept him healthy and honestly his production and work ethic to me have made him earn the money. Can't afford to lose a guy like him these days especially with Mikheyev on his way out

Liljegren's numbers this seasons were those of a #3 at worst. I think this contract guarantees value over the next 2 years, but a sneaky alternative would have been 4 years at some 2.5-3.5 or even 6 years at 4m+.

Great signing. I was thinking closer to 1.8 given Dermott got 1.5, but wow 1.4 is a steal for Lili. Him and Gio were our best pair for most of the post deadline season and they only cost us 2.2 mil for the next 2 years. Huge W

To think if Liljegren was played in ALL the Tampa series, instead of Holl, the Leafs and Avs might have been playing in the Cup Finals

True, but Matthews and Nylander are gone as UFAs. It's how effectively the Leafs spend their 18.6m on replacements that determine the Leafs fate in last part of the decade.

He played primarily on the bottom pair last season.

By the end of tge season he was playing more minutes than supposed top pair lybushkin. His numbers in those minutes were better than any other leafs Dman. He also made his partners better. Especially Rielly.

Fair enough. I agree with you that he’ll be a top 4 guy, I’m just saying I’m not sure he was quite on that level last season.

By all metrics he was. Including ice time. I'm not sure if he will start the season paired with Rielly but he should.

Rielly-Lilly
Sandin-Brodie
Gio-Holl

...Muzzin

I hope these are the pairings to start next season. Though obviously scratching Muzzin is not practical.
