This most likely gets Dallas back in the playoffs real quick. Niemi and Lehtonen are two big money contracts and it is going to cost a pretty penny to move one of them.

Personally, I wonder why the Kings didn't take one of Niemi or Lehtonen back. They must be reeeeeeal confident that Jack Campbell can back up Quick next year or that they can find somebody in free agency/the trade market, because, aside from him, Quick, and Jeff Zatkoff, there are literally no other goaltenders on NHL contracts on their payroll, and I'm pretty sure they have literally zero unsigned goaltending prospects in their system.

Using Zatkoff as the backup next season would be a lot cheaper than and probably just as effective as Niemi/Lehtonen. That will allow Ontario to use Campbell as the starter for another season. He probably needs another year of seasoning anyway, and then he can become the full-time backup once Zatkoff's contract is up. Or they can use Zatkoff and Campbell interchangeably next season if one looks over/underwhelming.

It wasn't for Bishop is was for Bishop's rights just before he went UFA.
