I’d be cool with Mercer straight up.

Devils likely pull out of the race if this is the price and throw the bag at JG instead.

2, Mercer, Holtz are probably non-starter, based on everything Tom Fitzgerald has ever said

Probably just gonna be 7th overall and a prospect for Fiala at this point. There’s too much hassle and risk when it comes to finding a deal with the Devils.

Devils have been heavily linked to JG recently. There is /allegedly/ mutual interest. Just can't see the Devils so desperate for a winger, especially with a top 12 offense in most categories, that they give up a blue chip ELC forward to acquire one. Especially with so many wingers available via trade or UFA. Just doesn't make any sense and it clashes with everything Fitz has ever said.

I can see the 23 first being in play. I can see every prospect not named Holtz and Hughes in play. Just can't see 2, Holtz, or Mercer.

Not only that, we have heard roughly nothing on what the Wild have been offered for Fiala. It's pure speculation and the range of outcomes is incredibly vast.

I just don't think the Isles trade Raty. I get the Wild want a C prospect. But I also doubt Mercer is on the table for NJ. Maybe OTT has a C I'm forgetting about but arguably the top suitors for Fiala aren't likely to have that C.

I'd counter with Simon Holmstrom and Bode Wilde as the players involved in the trade. It's reasonable value. Just not getting the priority position you probably want. Just draft Kaspar, Lambert, or Geekie at #13

Have there been any updated rumors about what Ottawa has or would offer?

Difference is Lambert, Kapser, and Geekie all would take 2/3 years to be an impact at the very least. Räty has a chance to step into the NHL at some point this upcoming season. To be completely honest I’m more interested in Räty than I am the 13th overall pick. My opinion means nothing though, it should be a fun next week or so with all the rumors and speculation around trades leading up to the draft on the 7th.

IMO Raty is best served marinating one year in the AHL. I think him + the 13th pick is a little rich. I'd want something like the Mercer deal where it's a 2nd rounder. Maybe add a small piece in (Wilde again?) to make up some value. Is Rossi not going to be an NHL player next year? I get long term Center is a position of importance but Eriksson-Ek, Hartman, Gaudreau, Rossi, Jost seems like enough C depth to get by for now

Too much from islanders stand point Raty will be a top 10 player from his draft class

I expect Rossi to be in the lineup next year but we need somebody who can become a legitimate 1C and Rossi may very well become that one day but if you were to have both Räty and Rossi then you get 2 shots at developing a 1C vs just having 1 shot with Rossi. EK is the perfect 2nd line center but we get the best out of Foligno and Greenway who are 3rd line wingers by pairing them with EK. Hartman is best served playing winger and we have a number of guys who can play 4C.

I’d rather have EK, Rossi, and Räty down the middle for the next decade rather than just EK and Rossi.

The dude has never played an NHL game in his life and put up 0 points in 2 AHL games. I’d wait to see what he looks like in North America before we start giving him those accolades.

He had 4 points in 6 games in the AHL playoffs and he definitely has top 10 potential to say he doesn’t is just silly

I never said he doesn’t have the potential to become a top 10 player in his draft class but so does 75 other players. You flat out said that he will be a top 10 player in his draft class.

75 other players GTFO there’s like max 20-25 that have the potential to, because I truly believe it after his incredible season in the Liiga he has shown no signs of stopping he was easily on the best islanders in the AHL playoffs

I personally think you’re a little too bullish on the return, but I guess time will tell.

Neither of those players even combined are worth Fiala lol (including the first of course). That's a joke. Fiala is an insanely talented player that get repeatedly bashed on because fans think prospects are more valuable than proven talent.
