Does this mean Killorn sticks around?

I think this means we keep Killorn, Rutta, and Palat.
Killorn probably gone next season when RFAs need to be signed.

So Tampa now has 5.95 million in cap space following the McD trade. No chance they keep Rutta, after signing Palat, with Myers on the roster. Regardless of what JBB said, I still believe that by the 12th, Myers is either traded or bought out, which then gives Tampa approximately 9.1 million in space. Then Palat and Rutta can ve resigned, and Tampa would likely have 1.5ish to maybe 2 million tops to sign or trade for a 3LD. Trading Killorn as well gives Tampa around 6-6.5 most likely to address 3LD and a middle/top 6 winger replacement for Killirn. The worst option imo is keeping Killirn and Myers, as Rutta is then 100% gone and you're talking about having maybe just enough for a 3LD making 800k.

Here's a question:
Does an NTC mean nothing to anyone signing with us going forward? At least in regard to getting a lower cap number.

We've now seen NTC issues played out with Johnson and McDonagh over the course of two seasons. I wouldn't think anyone would take too big of a sweetheart discount now just to "lock in" their spot in Tampa with NTCs being null once JBB decides it's time for you to go. Obviously, there will always be the option for players to enforce their own NTC - as we saw with Johnson - but it just seems like things are becoming a bit more tough love lately.

For the record, I agree with moving McDonagh if that means we keep Palat, Cirelli, Cernak, and Sergachev.

We essentially got nothing for McDonagh.

IMHO, I really thought we would have to GIVE UP MORE to move McDonagh (so did @Hedman77 from earlier), so I'm pleasantly surprised. McDonagh's coming off a really rough playoffs (with a couple of brutal mistakes against the Avs), is getting older, and has a cap hit of $6.75 million for each of the next 4 years. Given that they needed to re-sign Paul+Palat (and possibly Rutta) plus extend Sergachev+Cernak, this was pretty necessary. So I'm glad JBB was able to get it done without giving anything away other then McDonagh, and acquiring Mismash (what a terrible last name) besides. Now buyout Myers (don't know if they will though), and suddenly you have almost $7 million in cap space. Not bad.

We got cap space and that's more valuable than anything else we could've gotten for him

Not surprised about Walker but surprised about Guttman.
Sounds like they turned us down?

Lol. Someone who can skate. Is that too much to ask for? No more required Barb Underhill miracle cases please.

If Yurov drops due to geopolitical stuff and Kaprizov news then him 100%.

Bro has all the swag in the world. I like his on ice skill set as well. His defense is a concern but not something that should be detrimental.

Edmonds is a quality pick on the surface.

Getting back to drafting talent that drops because of size concerns is nice. Can always draft some big nasties in desperate need of skating work in the later rounds.

I was cheering in thrilled disbelief-couldn't believe he was still on the board at 31. Absolutely terrific pick, hope it pans out

Two top FA I want to see in JBB sign tomorrow for no particular reason, Kulak and Helm.

Kulak, shmeh sure why not. Helm.... Aren't we already maxed out on old boys?

Id take Kessel at a cup chaser discount. But he's probably keen on life in Arizona.

Personally, I just like that Helm has wheels. Feel like the Avs danced around us with their wheels.

I like Kulak, but at forward, if Palat goes, I hope we're in on either D. Strome or Marchment.

What about Kubalik? 26years old, 3.5mil*4 (ish) He was terrible last year (so were most Blackhawks) but is not too far removed from a Calder trophy finalist, is pretty sound systems wise and has glimpses of something that might flourish under Coop's system

Seems a little rich for Cole. It'll be interesting how we address forward now.

I still like Marchment, Kubalik, and Strome, but I wouldn't give any of them more than 3.5
