NJ doesn’t want all that useless CAP $$$ for Slav.

I'm not sure who Xhekaj is but I want to order his jersey just to mess with the guy at the store.

If Montreal was offered this for 1st overall, it would be a hard no. I don't see why New Jersey would take that for 2nd overall.

I don't see New Jersey moving 2nd overall unless the player they are getting back is a legitimate ppg+ star player. Anderson is not that, and a backup goalie who has had 1 good season in the last 5 years, a middling prospect, and 26th overall does not make up the difference

Why would NJ want to take up useless cap for Anderson and Jake Allen if they are trying to make a playoff push? If anything, they should be trading for top quality players/prospects to fit their timeline when they can build a roster to win the cup. Awful trade for 2OA in my opinion

Yah I don't see this being feasible. NJ I still believes in Blackwood, have their backup in Jonathan Bernier (so long as he can stay healthy, that's admittedly a weak point) and quite honestly, they don't need more centers, they need quality wingers, so Josh Anderson isn't the catnip he may seem to be for someone like the devils. Far as I can tell, Xhekaj isn't even really a trade chip, just meaningless cap space (watch me eat those words in a few years tho).

If I'm NJ, this doesn't move the needle. I don't trade a potential core player for spare parts.

Undrafted prospect out of the OHL, defenseman. He's definitely a steal, he's big and has a lot of grit but he's also pretty good offensively. I wouldn't be surprised if he makes the Habs roster in the next 2-4 years.

Honestly the more I look and hear about Slafkovsky the more I don't want to draft him. I think the best world for MTL would to simply keep the asset or try to have another pick between 12 to 25 and select Wright as they're number one pick.

For the second overall pick from NJ I think I would select Simon Nemec or Logan Cooley.

Nemec could really help NJ on the defense and bring more offensive from the back. Cooley could also bring great offense and a line of Hischier, Hughes, Cooley as centerman is freaking good.
