More Competitive Sabres

Created by: SabresFan78
Team: 2022-23 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 28, 2022
Published: Jun. 28, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Oloffson trade makes room for younger players. Get solid D prospect and pick in return. Bring in Konecny for leadership and bite. Will play well with Cozens. Definitely a 60-65 point player with good linemates. Bring in Nick Paul and Gudbranson for additional leadership plus sandpaper. Holtby good enough to hold down the fort for a couple years to bring in younger goalies. Hate to do this but start Peterka in Roch. He's the first call up. Will be playing in Buffalo by mid-season.

Ducks are kind of in a similar situation...lots of young guys to take up a limited number of roster spots. Using assets like 10OA/22OA/42(ish)OA to upgrade needs to be a major upgrade, otherwise it's just a move to drop someone out of the lineup during a rebuild.

Best to just see what you've got (similar to what you're doing for the Sabres) unless you're swinging for the fences.

No point of moving Olofsson for that

I’d take that for the Flyers, but I doubt Fletcher would be smart enough to pull that trigger

If youre trading Olofsson to make room for youth, then why make the Konecny trade. your just filling in the spot you opened up. Konecny is also not an improvement. Makes 0 sense

Konecny is 100% an improvement over victor. Watching the two players actually play the game, TK bring way way way more than victor ever has. He plays the game hard, and is annoying to the other teams. Hes been trapped in the dump that is philly and he needs to get out.

Would a better prospect with the PIT 2nd (#53) get any more or less interest from Buffalo? I'm really not interested in moving the ANA 2nd so given that the pick would be lower I'm trying to gauge how much better the prospect would need to be.

If it's only a second, the prospect would have to really make sense, like a right d with size that has at least a second pair ceiling. I don't wanna move olofsson though.

Roger that, I'm just kicking tires. The closest thing to what you want that the Ducks have is probably Ian Moore but he's young and pretty raw still. Probably better for the Ducks to keep him any way to figure out what his ceiling is.

So he adds an extra 70 hits. Thats not adding much, they also already have Tuch and can sign any 4th liner to play that role. Regardless of what your bias is, the difference between Konecny and Olofsson is absolutely not a 1st and a 2nd, even after adding a LHD prospect from Anaheim that is the most redundant position in the Sabres prospect pool

You do this EVERY TIME. And EVRY TIME I need to tell you that Konecny is a better player than VO. Then you say "look at their points" and I say "Konecny plays a harder game than VO." It gets boring...

Exactly what I'm saying. Some people (like Shiballs 18) just don't appreciate players like TK.

This is the 2nd time and yes you can be adamant but that doesnt make you right. As I said, specifically this time, the difference isnt a 1st and 2 2nds thats absolutely egregious. by itself, thats more than they got for Giroux, thats almost to what Buffalo got for Eichel, just so you can get a similar player that hits more. you can get Heinen for a 3rd to do nearly the same thing. Get Reaves from the Rangers and you wont have to worry about toughness at all. No reason to waste 3 good assets and give them directly to a struggling conference rival, just for more hits
