Description
Since pretty much everyone around here that has two years or under left either want to get out or isn't willing to commit long-term, maybe it would be time to make a reset.

Trades
1.
WPG
  1. Abramov, Mikhail
  2. Holl, Justin
  3. Kerfoot, Alexander
  4. Niemelä, Topi
  5. 2022 3rd round pick (WPG)
  6. 2023 1st round pick (TOR)
  7. 2024 2nd round pick (TOR)
TOR
  1. Dubois, Pierre-Luc [RFA Rights]
  2. Svechnikov, Evgeny [RFA Rights]
  3. 2022 4th round pick (ARI)
  4. 2022 7th round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Dubois has came out with his plans to test free agency in 2024 when his RFA rights expire, which means he's willing to sign a 2-year contract. This two-year contract would be in terms of length pretty ideal for the Leafs, who would need to re-sign Matthews in that timeframe. Dubois could be a fantastic 2C for the Leafs.

WPG takes in couple of contracts that helps Leafs cap wise that they can convert into futures themselves, as well as future assets.
2.
WPG
  1. Sokolov, Egor
  2. Thomson, Lassi
  3. White, Colin
  4. Zaitsev, Nikita
  5. 2022 1st round pick (OTT)
  6. 2023 2nd round pick (OTT)
  7. 2024 2nd round pick (OTT)
OTT
  1. DeMelo, Dylan
  2. Ehlers, Nikolaj
Additional Details:
Reportedly, Ottawa is looking to strengthen their team. Imo Ehlers and DeMelo would be great fits in that roster. WPG takes some bad contract(s) and a haul of futures in return.
3.
WPG
  1. Joseph, Pierre-Olivier [RFA Rights]
  2. Poulin, Samuel
  3. Zucker, Jason
  4. 2023 2nd round pick (PIT)
  5. 2023 7th round pick (TOR)
  6. 2024 1st round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Conditional pick(s)

- 2023 2nd round pick converts into 2023 first round pick if Pittsburgh reaches the second round in 2022-23 playoffs and Scheifele earns 65 points during the season.

- 2024 1st round pick is Top10 - protected. Should PIT drop into the bottom-10, WPG receives unprotected 2025 1st round pick instead.

- If Pittsburgh reaches the ECF in 2023-24 playoffs, WPG has the option to change the pick to 2025 1st round pick (PIT).
PIT
  1. Appleton, Mason [RFA Rights]
  2. Scheifele, Mark
Additional Details:
Scheifele has questioned his willingness to continue in WPG if they decide to retool, which makes him a primary guy for trading. He's an offensively skilled 75-point top-6 C. Could be an ideal guy for a team whose window is closing sooner than later. Pittsburgh sounds like one of those - especially if Malkin walks. Winnipeg takes a bad contract and gets a haul of futures in return.
4.
WPG
  1. Iorio, Vincent
  2. Protas, Aliaksei
  3. Samsonov, Ilya [RFA Rights]
  4. 2022 2nd round pick (WPG)
  5. 2023 1st round pick (WSH)
  6. 2024 3rd round pick (WSH)
WSH
  1. Hellebuyck, Connor
  2. Kerfoot, Alexander ($1,750,000 retained)
Additional Details:
WSH's window is about to close, but in order to compete they basically need a new Holtby. Hellebuyck could be just that. WPG receives a replacement goalie and future assets in return.
5.
WPG
  1. Dellandrea, Ty
  2. Faksa, Radek
  3. Gleason, Benjamin [RFA Rights]
  4. 2022 1st round pick (DAL)
DAL
  1. Pionk, Neal
Additional Details:
DAL could use a RHD, and Pionk is imo a solid option for them. He's relatively young and able to play both PP and PK. WPG receives a first rounder, solid prospects and a bottom-6 forward in return.
6.
FLA
  1. Wheeler, Blake ($4,125,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Maybe Wheeler is willing to waive for FLA to reunite with his trusty coach, and maybe Maurice would be interested in bringing him back. WPG receives a contract that helps things for FLA, as well as couple of prospects.
7.
WPG
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (NYI)
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (NYI)
NYI
  1. Dillon, Brenden
Additional Details:
I don't think Dillon would get two seconds this time, but maybe a 2nd+3rd from some team.
8.
WPG
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (DET)
DET
  1. Schmidt, Nate
Additional Details:
Once again, Schmidt gets traded for a 3rd.
9.
WPG
  1. 2022 4th round pick (CAR)
  2. 2022 6th round pick (ANA)
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (CAR)
CAR
  1. Hörnqvist, Patric ($2,650,000 retained)
  2. Stanley, Logan
Additional Details:
WPG deals couple of depth assets in exchange to picks.
10.
WPG
  1. 2022 4th round pick (WPG)
  2. 2022 6th round pick (NYR)
NYR
  1. Toninato, Dominic
  2. 2022 4th round pick (CAR)

Unlikely Winnipeg trades all those pieces for low value, high quantity returns. That's not a good way to start a rebuild.

DeMelo has Ottawa on his no-trade list and we are not massively overpaying for Ehlers.

Try again.

If you call White+Thomson+1st for Ehlers a massive overpayment, then yes.

I don't think anyone takes Zaitsev without getting those two seconds, and that leaves Sokolov for DeMelo, which can be replaced by Dillon for example.

I mean so was Chabot, White and Formenton, and they're still there. So I don't think that would be a factor. He had great chemistry with Chabot and the latter was playing his best hockey with Demelo, so I'm sure they'd want to bring him back

How would you know that the Sens are on Demelo's no-trade list since they aren't published to the public? Maybe he doesn't have Ottawa on it. AS for Ehlers, I think that is a fair value, since I would consider the 2 2nds are there to take on Zaitsev and White contracts, and Ehlers would cost 1st, Thomson and Sokolov.

For Dallas I would consider that trade I don’t have that same gut wrenching feeling of having to take a mid 30s guy. I don’t know about losing a first plus Dellandrea (2018 1st) being a lot to give up on a second pair guy (albeit a very versatile player). I also don’t know about needing to dump Faksa in the same deal but it’s a good start to negotiate from.

I think Dellandrea is close to NHL ready so that would actually help Winnipeg if the center depth drops off if they do sell off the vets and especially with PLD’s recent sentiment about UFA. They have to hope Perfetti is the real deal.

What about: Dellandrea, Gleason and Damiani (AHL rookie of the year in the 21’ season has good advanced stats but a bit undersized and has a bad year this year so he might not interest as much) for only Pionk nothing additional.

1. I made a series of posts in the forums where I guess the trade lists for every NHL player.

Make sure to check them out.

2. White can be bought out for next to nothing.

3. It should not cost two seconds to dump Zaitsev.

Also, we have never placed Zaitsev on waivers before and he has never played for Belleville.

4. If that is an overpayment on Fiala, it would be an overpayment on Ehlers as well.

Moving Hellebuyck instantly means they're rebuilding, which also means that two years of Nylander is pretty useless for them. Also Sandin as a target is valuable, but WPG already has a LHD logjam.

The pieces offered here are valuable enough, but I question the fit.

I think WPG would prefer leaving that for TOR. The thing is, Nylander's value is subject to regress after being traded from a contender to a rebuilder as there's not as much quality to produce with, and Nylander is more or less all offense kind of guy.

WPG would rather take prospects like Niemelä or Knies in return for Hellebuyck I'd wager.

Then maybe it's a 3 way deal...besides....who said anything about this being a rebuild for the Jets where it is torn right down......by acquiring Nylander they can replace a Wheeler....send him off to long island for the goalie being mentionsed....or the rumor about Dubois to Rangers....a package that includes Georgiev...

3-way trade might work. Doubt NYR is going to qualify Georgiev given their cap struggles.

Point is that the only reason for WPG to consider moving guys like Hellebuyck, Scheifele or Wheeler is because they want to rebulld/retool. Those two are PPG players and Hellebuyck is a top10 goalie, would make very little sense to move them for no other reason.

Well if they don't qualify him then you can sign a good goalie for cheaper than Hellebuyck....and get something else to replace Dubois with....point is you don't have to do a re-build...more of a re-tool like ya said and send out the pieces that seem to be trouble makers....and that's the 3 forwards. so one gets flipped somewhere for a goalie and the other 2 for either forwards or a D.....personally i think Sandin would be good add to this lineup considering what you have there now

I wouldn't call Georgiev a good goalie. 2G in a good tandem, tops.

The point in this post is the fact WPGs core has a problem - none of them is willing to stick around. And they're at downward trajectory too. Imo it would be a decent idea for them to start again from the scratch now and build for a better future, because where they are right now, they're getting nowhere.

oh i get your point on the fact they seem to be a dysfunctional team right now.......just don't think a tear down is needed and can flip the trouble players and still stay competitive....i used Georgiev only as an example as there is apparently a rumor Rangers might be interested in Dubois......sure you won't replace Hellebuyck but there are other names out there and i think a rebuild on the fly can be done....anyways good chatting with ya
