Framework of a deal

Created by: LVNYR_FAN
Team: 2022-23 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 28, 2022
Published: Jun. 28, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Panarin not likely to waive NMC, but more apt to do so for Yzerman if he could play with his buddy Strome, and his linemate Copp, who comes home. Rangers would prefer to keep all, but can't afford to keep the line intact. The Red Wings are one of the few with cap space for it. An instant, top quality 2nd line to compliment Bert, Larkin, Raymond 1st line, while pushing Suter down to high quality 3rd line.

Rangers motivation is to clear cap and fill in with cost-controlled, high upside players with Fox and Zib extensions kicking in, and Laf, Miller, Kakko, Chytil needing to be paid coming up.

Rangers trust Chytil's playoff growth and support him with a Czechmate line that can support his and Zadina's further development.

What does either team add to make the deal more palatable? Could see Rangers wanting at least two more cheaper, younger pieces (something from a combo of Veleno, Berggren, Rasmussen, Edvinsson, Viro, draft picks, etc). Depending on quality, they could add assets also.

UFA rights are minimal value at best so we’re talking Breadman here. I also like how you put Edvinsson in that grouping subletly.

Now this is the first proposal I've seen with some merit. I like the rationale. My next attempt will be to clear the decks of Panarin and Trouba and go from there. I've seen several other suggestion on how to proceed as well. Bravo!

Rationale is spot on. Either a 1st or another quality prospect

I gave this a whirl, putting the band back together with Breadman-Strome-Copp. Wings just don't have the sufficient assets to return. Only other teams that could entertain such a notion are the Coyotes, the Sabres or the Ducks. I think the Ducks are the next logical choice.

Looked at Sabres too...don't think Bread would waive for them or Coyotes. Only shot was Anaheim or Detroit, and I liked the idea of a Czechmate line to make Chytil even more comfortable. Organizational history with Yzerman being GM is also a plus.

If they could swing a deal here, and make a run at Pasta for RW1 using Kakko, Kravtsov, Lundqvist, and whatever else was needed, it would be fantastic!

I like the idea but I think NY would want more than I’d be willing to give if I’m Detroit. I’d consider something like:

Panarin(2M retained) and a 2024 2nd for Zadina, Vrana, 2024 1st, 2022 3rd

If Copp (and maybe Strome) were guaranteed to sign with Detroit.

Maybe? IDK. Also this doesn’t seem like Yzerman’s MO

I agree wholeheartedly. That was my conclusion too. The only other possibility was the Ducks, and they would have to give up all their good players in return. I threw and Anders Lee for the Breadman scenario out there and got blasted. My contention is that the Rangers have no chance if they continue with the Panarin and Trouba contracts. Crosby 8.7M - 3 cups aka Malkin $9.5M - Ovey $9.5M - 1 cup. All players with 10-10+ contracts (there are currently 16) - no cups. Kane and Toews won there 3 cups when they were making LT $10M. And then there is Trouba at $8M. Fox at $9M is justified. Trouba at $6M is more appropriate. Why is that every Rangers GM has a propensity to ink awful contracts. I've been watching them do it for 65 years. When the Rangers won the cup in 94', they traded a career 700+ goal scorer and brought in some of coach Mike Keenan's former Blackhawk players and some of Messiers old Oiler players. A the Rangers had a terrific team before all this happened. These moves put in place the supporting cast. That 700+ goal scorer never won a cup, and I contend the Breadman will not either. He's a great player, no doubt, but he lacks the right stuff. Currently, three guys Panarin, Troba, and Fox represent approximately 40% of the payroll. If you could only only keep one, who would it be. For me it's Fox. If I could only launch one, who would it be. For me it's Trouba. The only other possibility Is a blockbuster where you launch Panarin and Trouba with a whole lot of sweeteners attached. There goes the neighborhood. There would be a lot of bodies strewn along the road. I really don't want to move the young D. The Blueshirts have 5 really good young ones - Fox - Lindgren - Miller - Schneider - Lundqvist. They can keep this group together for the next six years before $s may get in the way. Kakko, Kravtsov, and even Chytil for Pasta might work. But again the $'s are an issue. I'd love to hear your thoughts on how to launch Trouba. Keep in touch. Best Regards.

Here's a thought for the Rangers. Panarin for Toews (50% retained) and Kane (50% retained). Probably have to thrown in thrown in Chytil to compensate for the loss of the Hawks best Center. The Hawks can't keep both, but they get the Breadman (may need a little retained salary on him as well) for additional years, re-sign Debrincat, and a young replacement center (Chytil). FULL stop. The wheels are spinning. LVNYR_FAN got me thinking, and that can be dangerous. It would be easier to work it out and post it. But the put the band back together option is back on the table. Stay tuned. S/B work out within the hour.

Sorry fellas, it doesn't work. The Hawks have to many players to sign. It was nice while it lasted.

Not in as much a hurry to move Trouba honestly. His combo of size, skill, leadership, and tone-setting, clean hits is hard to find. Granted, would have liked him a whole lot more at 6.5 or even 7, but that's on Gorts. I think Panarin is best combo of return and cap savings...hard to give him up, but may be a necessity with other high end contracts.

re: LVNYR_FAN - I concur completely.. It's not the player re Troubs, it the contract. Re: Artemi, I worked on a Blockbuster NYR-CHI deal involving the following players KANE TOEWS and the CAT for Kreids - Mika - Chytil - Kakko - Georgy. The Ranger squad I put together average of 3.5 goal put the FO& over 50%. Couple that with the defense - In the words of Darth Vader - Impressive ..... Most Impressive. On the Hawks side - 1st Line Kreids - Mika - Kakko. Third line LW - Chytil, and Georgy competing for # goalie. A bit suspect on the defense in 22-23, but likely improved with the influx of Blueshirts. 40$M in available cash to renew contracts in 23-24 and pick up at least two top flight UFA's. The whole thing went Titantic on the Cat contract in the out years. I did post both rosters but deleted them quickly when things went south, Keep in touch, particularly if you can come up with a Breadman solution. Best Regards.
