Salary retention would have to be with a third party team - not sure what the going rate for $1.5mill of retained salary is? Leafs had $2.5million for a 5th on Lehners deal, is a 4th for $1.5million fair?? This deal would only make sense if fleury signs with minny

You aren't getting Marcus foligno from Minnesota. Nothing you offer is getting our heart and soul leader. Minnesota easily decline

That's a good return, a great return, even. But Marcus Foligno is a lot more important than that late-first can ever be. He is the heart and soul of our franchise. A true leader. Wild have to decline, sorry.

Wild decline.

And will continue to do so, so long as Foligno is there. We're not moving our starting goaltender on top of the player who is the beating heart and soul of our team for that little of a return.

It would cost a vast overpay for us to even consider it. One that would make it extremely and decidedly not worth it on Toronto's end.

so Vancouver is going to give up a valueable defenceman for someone that can be signed in FA? where's the logic in that

Ya, Foligno is going no where but a man can dream. The only way I’d figure it may work, considering the Wild are going to be in a cap bind, is if they signed MAF (there was reports of it) and they want to get rid of Talbot. In that case, if you take nearly $7million off the books, maybe you could get it done for an overpay (what else that would be, I’m not sure. Sandin and picks?)

I mean, that Canucks trade is not realistic. Teams literally never sign pending UFAs, just to trade them instantly.

No logic, really want him as a 7D and just through a package together which what I had. I’m assuming he wouldn’t cost too much so I just left it as is. What do you think he would cost?

It'd be tough to part with him because he's a real heart and soul guy and was a big help for Hughes this year, but I'd say it costs a 3rd + late round pick/meh prospect. Canucks would prefer to keep him though

It's still a no. Foligno is going nowhere. Just because Minnesota is in a bind doesn't mean they will trade foligno. Minnesota has zero need for d when we have 9d under contract and really good top d prospects. So with all due respect, foligno is going nowhere and will not be dumped

I don't think we would trade him unless it's for a young RHD like Liljegren.

Can’t lie, very fair offer to Minnesota. Despite this, I think the only way I could see this happening would be if Minnesota gets very get very good offers on guys like Fiala, Dumba, Hartman, Greenway where Guerin feels like he can build a really competitive young team with all of the extra capital/prospects

Is there any chance of a trade based around Talbot and Robertson?

I don't think there would be a trade around Talbot and Robertson - I think Dubas opt to test the UFA market instead. I'm a huge fan of Foligno, I really think the Leafs need someone like him on their second or third line. Talbot was added to the trade just anticipating that Minny is actually going to sign MAF and that they want to clear cap space (take $6.whatever million off the books instead of just Foligno's cap). What would it take to get Greenway?

Hard to tell, Big defensive power forward on a team friendly 3 year 3m per deal. I think I would swap him in for Foligno in the trade above and ask for a 3rd or something on top of it. I don’t see Guerin breaking up the GREEF line but if one had to go it would be Greenway. If I was in Guerin’s shoes, I wouldn’t be actively shopping Greenway but if an enticing offer came through I might be willing to take it. Another example would be if the Wild somehow landed Iafallo from trading Fiala, I would almost prefer Iafallo over Greenway on that line which would make me much more willing to move Greenway.
