Re-posting Cap Messaging

Created by: Kooz
Team: 2022-23 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 28, 2022
Published: Jun. 28, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade Keith to Arizona (or a team needing to get to floor). They can buy him out for $500k actual cost and incur a $4.5M cap hit. The Oilers could then sign him back for $1MM ala Orpik deal. Keith makes his $1.5M, Yotes get $4.5MM closer to cap floor for $500k and Oilers recoup $4.5MM in cap space and keep a quality player.

For those commenting on Kassian, this was pulled directly from Wings and other teams fans on here. Whether or not it’s Detroit, sounds like there’s a deal to be made with this general make up.

Re: Barrie, for those who don’t think a veteran RH 40-point D-man who showed well defensively in regular season and playoffs who can run a PP1 isn’t worth AT LEAST a 2nd rounder, your perception of value is sorely misguided. And Seattle needs exactly that.

Smith “retires” on LTIR.

i’m pretty sure that keith thing is cap circumvention and would be stopped by the league, you can’t just trade him to another team, have them buy him out and re-sign him.

Just confirmed on Oilers radio show it is totally legal. Flames just did it with Stone.

Yeah, but we're talking about the Oilers here. The League has a demonstrated record of disadvantaging Edmonton whenever the opportunity presents itself.

love the Keith plan, zero faith holland could pull it off.
I think Pulji's QO is $1.9 mill, sadly im sure he will get traded.
Deslauriers is going to have a ton of teams interested, not sure he would choose Edmonton with so many options in the mix, and i think he will get more like 3x$1.5mill
I think they need to overhaul the bottom 6. Trade Foegle & Ryan and find guys who can do the same job for a bit less cap space. Gagner would be a good replacement for Ryan, hes 3 yrs younger and would probably sign for $850k if given a bit of term 2 or 3 yrs. McLeod needs to be full time 3C next yr, he is too good to be wasted on 4th line minutes.

Seattle is not trading 35 OA for Tyson Barrie . . . No picks this year, actually. I'd wager that draft picks are more important to this franchise than any other in the league, currently. Plus, UFA comes AFTER the draft. Kraken will take a stab at Klingberg, perhaps others, before even considering a trade for Tyson Barrie.
