Quite honestly, this actually looks... pretty fair to me.

I mean maybe pinto + the 1st would get Ottawa in a bit of a tizzy, but, I don't think this is too far off beyond maybe the value of the draft picks.

Don’t count on it, yet, because Fiala will be traded to Ottawa.

I think people are being unrealistic. I really don’t see Ottawa trading 7th OA for a player that’s unsigned. Wild have close to no leverage in this situation. Last time a big star player was traded was Eichel and Buffalo only got 16OA, a role player (Tuch) and an A prospect (Krebs) so I don’t think the wild get that much let alone more. Ottawa values Pinto and Greig very highly so they are almost untouchable. realistically i think wild fans would find a more realistic trade underwhelming.

1) Sens fans on the regular have stated that 7th overall plus a prospect like Jarventie/Sokolov/JBD is fair value for Fiala.

2) Guerin has leverage. It's his player, who is 25 and coming off a PPG 80+ point season. He merely needs to send out at minimum 2 players totaling $8M in combined cap hits and he could easily afford to keep Fiala. He doesn't want to do that because Fiala is worth a haul, and the combined return for those two players would be less than what he could get for Fiala alone... for twice the hassle and work of moving them. Just because he doesn't, doesn't mean he can't or couldn't do that.

3) It's already been confirmed by NHL insiders that that there are at least 4 plus teams pursuing Fiala. Ottawa, LA Kings, New Jersey, and the Isles. Which automaticly drives up the price.

I agree there is a market for him, i’m not saying there isn’t, i’m also not claiming to be an nhl gm or anything like that, but i just think it would be foolish to trade 7th overall plus a prospect for an unsigned RFA players who has only gone ppg once in his career during his contract year. I’m sure Fiala is a great player ( i live in MTL so don’t really watch Wild games) but i think it’s kinda steep all things considered. I think i’d be a little more open to it if he came with an extension but as of now i’m not quite sold on him yet

Try Fiala for 7, one for one.
