Detroit isn’t taking a goalie who has been overall below average since signing his big deal. Taking a 10 mil contract for the next 4 years is going to cost a lot more than a couple mid tier prospects. AND to say the Wings giving up a 2nd is borderline comical. Florida is going to have to pay big time to get rid of that contract. One of the worst contracts in the league

If you think Florida is just going to eat 5 mil per year for the next 4 years. Too much money to just throw away when they are built to contend now. Still one of the worst contracts in the league. They made their bed with it and now they have to rest in it. Going to have to give up quality prospects to get rid of it not average ones.

Bob at 5 million has positive value... he is worth more than 5 but not much more

Yes, right now he has a positive value (low one but he’s positive at 5 mil), but he’ll turn 34 before this season so you’re looking at a 38 year old goalie by the last year of the contract. The main issue here is the term of his contract. And his play hasn’t been improving over the years on a pretty damn good Florida team.
