Oilers aren’t trading Bourgault if they get hellebuyck they will most likely give up broberg instead.

Jets don't need another young LHD. We already have Morrissey, Heinola, Samberg in the NHL and Chisholm, kuzmin, etc in the system.

Before giving up high-end prospects and 1st round draft picks, the Oilers will probably want some assurances that Hellebuyck will stick around beyond 2024. They might also look for a bit of salary retention on his current contract.

Demelo for a B level prospect + 2nd seems fair, asking for a 1st would net a prospect of lesser value than Hirvonen IMO.

What if Broberg projects to be better than all those guys though?

I don't disagree with what you're saying but wouldn't say no to a certain player IF they are much better than the guys you have, if Broberg is far better than those guys or not I really don't know.

Why? You get a top 5 Goalie in the NHL for at the very least 2 full runs at a Cup... that's pretty valuable to me.

I guess, but the Jets have more important parts of their roster to focus on and that is... Younger high-end top 6 potential forwards particularly centers (If we go with a rebuild and only keep Ehlers, KC, and JMo then we need some more young forwards that have top 6 potential, IMO we currently we have Perfetti, Lucius, Ehlers, and Connor who should become top 6 players and there is a chance that they are all wingers). Next big need is RHD (We only have Kovacevic, Gawanke, Lundmark, and Baure on the right side and I don't think any of them could be top 4). And finally a solid goalie prospect (I would like the Jets to take a swing at Tyler Brennen in the draft and also trade for one in one of the PLD, Scheif, Wheeler, or Helle trades).

I'd be ecstatic if the Oilers somehow acquired Hellebuyck, he's a fantastic goaltender. However, sometimes the best available is not the best fit. Hellebuyck's AAV and Edmonton's limited cap space and still developing organizational depth would make it very difficult to keep at least one, maybe two key contributors on the current roster.

Francouz is not of the same calibre as Hellebuyck, and Kuemper probably isn't either, yet Colorado took the prize this year. Holland has to look at his goaltending needs while balancing them with all of his roster needs. Hellebuyck might be a bit too much of a good thing.

I bet Gawanke could be a top 4 dman if this dumb organization would give him a chance.
