Habs add in first overall to wings trade to even it out. Don't understand why habs fans don't understand that Petry gets 0 things of value back in a trade with Detroit

I don't like Fabbri so I'd say this is the best idea yet. That said, we don't need Petry as our RD is pretty well set right now and he'd be both the oldest and most expensive player on our team.

From last rumors, there's two teams interested in Petry. Dallas and Detroit. KH said couple of time that he will not paid anything to get rid of Petry. So that said the interested teams will be willing to pay a valuable price for his services.

Yes, let's give the Jets our chance at Bedard (Elite) for a top 6 C.

VAN probably says no. Dickenson contract isnt that bad and they need as much capspace after next season as possible. Also would imagine the 4th would be going the other way too.

And when does yzerman ever talk about what he's doing publicly? This is spectaculation from a writer trying to get clicks because he's from Michigan. We have seider and Hronek on the right side whose above him, why would we take his 3+ 6,M+ contract to play 3rd pairing minutes? Dallas if they lose klingberg is a possibility, for Detroit it's a pure cap dump and if the habs don't pay they will keep that awful contract

Just becuase some on essays boo, does not mean it is a ghost. Funny I have heard nothing in Metro Detroit area that Yzerman likes or wants Petry. And looking at his last two years here as GM he has not taken on older more expensive contracts unless it is a true need. He took Staal becuase we needed LHD and got a pick and he took Leddy on and dumped on contract and gave a 2nd. Leddy was a bad deal but he worked hi magic and trade Leddy and got a 2nd back along with two useful.players.

Petey I snot horrible, but two things work against Yzerman trading for him.

    1. He has two not 1 year left on his deal. Yzerman has preached flexibility and this goes against what he has preached since day 1.
    2. RHD is not a position of need, LHD is until younger players progress. Center and a 2nd line center is a position of need. Unless he has a deal or package where he trades Hronek and gets a 2nd line center this deal is moot. Wings have a lot of LHD prospects, Evidsson, Wallinder, Balium, Johansson and McIssac and few to none on the RHD side right now. Just does not make sense to trade a 25 yo RHD for a 35 year old who will be done in two years without a replacement ready to step in after Petry leaves.

    “Rumors.”
Detroit is not interested in Petry, it’s simply not a fit and doesn’t make sense for the rebuild.
There have been zero leaks from the Yzerplan, whether it’s who they’re looking at in the draft or who the new coach might be. I highly doubt the 1st leak from the front office is going to be Jeff Petry

You left a digit off the Gallagher retention. Any GM would be crazy or incompetent to take that contract off your hands for less than 40% retention, unless Gallagher was part of some package that was incredibly favorable otherwise.

Price will be difficult to move. I don't think we are the team to consider this. You may have to look at retention like FLA are considering with Bob.
