Had a feeling it was faber going to be involved in any Minnesota deal. I don’t think he was going to sign with LA

I suppose this sets the market for a potential debrincat trade. I would expect a little more because you have that extra year before RFA but probably a good ball park

Not the prospect I had in mind from LA but not bad. He could end up be a RD version of Brodin with how great of a skater he supposedly is.

Faber is a much better prospect than I thought we’d get. Important to note that it’s also just the rights and not a full contract. Big win for BG on this.

Faber is gonna be what Dumba is giving us right now. He’ll be in the lineup next season. I think this also means Addison is out.

Funny how people will want their team to contend but will call every decent prospect untouchable...

Bader is not high on Faber and says there's almost 0 star potential fwiw

I always assumed the extension would be there but to not have to sign him before moving was a risk that LAK took on. It’s a good deal all around.

But to your point, this makes me think NJD was not willing to move Mercer or Holtz.

Very clearly. I also think they were unwilling to move 2OA and Guerin wanted a pick this year.

I seriously doubt any team would have sent this package without some sort of contract talk beforehand.

I’m aware. I’m a big gopher fan and really liked his game. He’s a 2nd pair dman all day. I thought it would have been Grans instead. I’m a big fan of this deal and think it’s right where the value should have been.

I really like their draft position this year. And I bet you we go after Necas too. Happy hunting on your scoring winger hunt.

Faber’s model is bad for defensive Dmen by the way . It relies too much on points. His model looks bad for Sanderson too even though he was over a point per game

Well I'm glad your happy with Faber, just trying to show a little context on what the advanced stats crowd is saying about Faber for those who don't know too much about him. Too many knee jerk reactions in sports, could be a very good return for MN in the years to come.

this is a common refrain about his model but if it were true, low-scoring dmen would make the NHL more often and players who looked like them would have better model probabilities.

that's not to say that Faber isn't better than his model numbers, but just that the narrative has some issues.

I’m a huge gopher fan so Faber is a known quantity. Super smooth skater who will be a 2nd pair d man.

Thing is, we didn’t have a no doubt shutdown guy in the system. We do now. I think BG did a good job of getting a guy that’s a look with a high floor and now we will take a shot on one of our 1st round picks.

If they trade Cat this summer, I think you’re looking at this plus another 1st round level asset.

I suppose it depends on how you view Faber. I personally view him very highly. But you also have to take into consideration that the circumstances are different. This might set the value for Debrincat, but the Hawks arent in a "we have to trade him because we cant afford him" scenario. We can hold onto him and say fine we wont trade him unless its an overpay.
