PLD, Miller, Scheifele, Debrincat, and Boeser trades are all going to be affected by this move, I think.

Not really, Fiala was probably wanting more than what teams like Ottawa, NJ, Philly etc were willing to pay him which limited the amount of teams interested in trading for him.

Hard to say that when Schneider was in the NHL this year and proved effective

There's no comparison between Fiala and Dubois. Minnesota was forced into trading Fiala and the Jets aren't being forced to move Dubois.

Winnipeg won't accept a lowball deal now when they easily get the same amount at the TDL in 2 years.

But signing that extension would make the Jets happy.

I don’t think every trade is going to be this low of a return, don’t get me wrong. I just think that the market may be a little bit lower for those guys now seeing what fiala got. Fiala is by no means on the same level as a guy like Debrincat.

Now there is one less team with cap space the can take on expensive contracts without sending cap back. Thought Minni did very well in the trade.
Some good UFAs are on the market looking for "home", and team to don't have to trade any thing for them. IMO the trade value of the players you mentioned isn't nearly as much now.

This is realistic. Eichel trade is not comparable. Reinhart trade is the blueprint. Along with Fiala trade PLD should not be as expensive as everyone thinks

I mean they kinda are forced to. He's not resigning and you guys are losing everyone. You're gonna rebuild so it would be dumb for WPG to not move PLD for assets.

Good time to be a buyer!!! Teams with cap space should be aggressive. Could see some interesting moves leading up to the draft and free agency.

They're not rebuilding from what they say, they are retooling. But with two years of control with Dubois, they're under no pressure to take a lowball offer now.

As I said they get the same for PLD as a rental in two years, so there is no incentive to move him for this now.

You're right....more sellers than buyers. Heck some teams are having trouble signing their own RFAs (this year and next) never mind UFAs.
IMO, the good UFAs should sign a decent as soon as possible when the market opens. Gotta think some are going to be without a team to sign for (or at least for the amount they expected)

Rangers had the cap and felt pressure to make a splash. Also had a lot of promising young prospects so it made sense Nonetheless still an overpay

If Chevy was smart he'd trade players get back a load of young players and picks and try for michkov of Bedard

Scheifele, Wheeler are going to be gone. Why keep PLD when he doesn't want to be there when you can get a solid return of picks and young prospects for him. This is not a retool your two best players are hitting FA and won't be resigned.

You're right maybe the true stars still get paid. But many UFA or second or good third liners won't be getting the offers they expected.....and I just don't think there will be as many buyers for these guys. Teams still have might want to sign their own RFAs (younger players) and a bit cheaper rather than an older UFA.
IMO, the don't see why the Rangers should purse PLD if it cost them good young cheap assets and his $$$$ is bloated for a second line centre. Just sign a UFA who may nearly as good and won't cost anymore cap.

I personally don't want to get anyone for the top six I want the kid line to have a shot at the second line and play panarin zibby and kreider line 1

It depends on if they are moved and what they are moved for. But for this offer 2 years of Dubois, plus what he returns at the TDL in two years is far more valuable than this offer.

I mean I guess you never know what a GM is thinking, but there's just no real incentive here for the Jets

PLD = Reinhart

Should get 5x6 contract.

If the Rangers swing this it's not far off to say he signs for that. Plays with Panarin again and in the bright lights of NY for a coach that is well-liked by his players unlike Torts.

Thats why media says. He prob doesnt want to commit to more than 2 years as that is when Scheifele, Wheeler and Helle are done. Fiala was done in Minny and everyone knew it as MIN was forced to sell

But are there teams with the cap that can send only futures back to the Jets??? Agree with the plan you suggest for the for the Jets, but they seem to more sellers than buyers

And Faber is NCAA while Schneider got to play in the AHL. If Faber is in the CHL he is probably with the Reign the year before and could probably have handled himself nicely on LA last year. Draft position means nothing 2 years past in most circumstances
