Playing with his old linemate and one of the best playmakers in the league in Panarin and gets the bright lights of NYR on a contending team with a great coach. Who knows?

He didn't request a trade, he made it clear he wants to test free agency in general. Can he be convinced to sign long term? Maybe but probably not this summer. Give him a 1 year deal and try again next summer

The jets probably consider this if you switch Lundqvist to Schneider. Also no chance PLD signs that deal, 7.5m at minimum.

are you telling me stats aren't important? just because some rando on capfriendly thinks he looks like a good player doesn't mean he's gonna get paid as much as Mika Zibanejad LMAO

stats are important, but its dumb to only watch them. mika took a team friendly contract. hes worth way more than that. And Mika is getting 8,5 until hes 37..... in this case Dubois contract would expire when hes only 32. hes only getting better....

You think Dubois is going to sign a long term deal at an AAV less than his QO when he wants to test free agency in 2024? That's quite the mental contortion.

we're not just looking at stats, but stats are important when it comes to value. Kevin Fiala just signed for 7.9M for 7 years, and his stats and the eye test tells me he's a better player than PLD, plus he's just 1 year older. PLD is not getting more than 7M...

Considering position and style, Fiala signing for just less than 8 makes be think there's not much chance Dubois signs for less than 8.

Yes, a 30+ goal, 1+ ppg, defensively astounding winger. I don't care that PLD is a center, he's not worth close to Fiala.
PLD barely cracked 60 points last year, and had 21 in the covid season. Does he have a ton of potential? Sure. Has he reached that potential yet? No.

He probably signs a 1 or 2 year deal for ~6.5M, and then leaves in free agency by the time the salary cap shoots up in 2024-25

Fiala scored over 30 goals and 85 points last season, and he's 25. You cannot be serious when you say that PLD is better... that tells me you know nothing about hockey
