Käsper Frendly-Gjost is a steal at 19, but Sobeys Bagge at 22 is way off the board

I think the biggest steal is Jimmy Snugglelike. That Shane Wright guy is a bad pick there.

nah man trust me i'm a mooseheads ticket holder and bagge's the best '22 eligible in the league. definitely better than pierre-marcel ballon-panier

The first round is over, and naturally my first instinct is to get some insight on draft classes in the future.

While searching through the 2024 draft class, i found this one kid that jumped right off the page for me.

Meet Tuomas Suoniemi, Turku TPS prospect and hopeful for the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

First thing to notice: His 2021-22 U16 campaign. 120 POINTS (59 goals, 61 assists) IN 38 GAMES. He outscored the second-highest scorer (Elias Puolanne) by 54 POINTS. Granted, this is only U16s, but outscoring the second best scorer by that much at any level is deserving of the highest of praise.

His stats are nice, and that was probably enough to most people to cement him as a great prospect.

But then i found some film. Check this sh*t out.

This is all i could find on YouTube, but it's a great amount of film. LOOK AT HIM SKATE. He's very fast on his feet, and he moves the puck around in possession so smoothly, it's like ASMR for the eyes.

Final Verdict: I don't want to call him elite just yet, but he has the mark of a player with a lot of potential. He was playing against other youngsters, so his stats probably don't mean much now, but he's graduating to U20 play next season (in other words, basically playing against men), so, in the words of Chancellor Sheev Palpatine...

I will have my eye on this kid for the future. If he keeps dominating like he is now, i could definitely see him as a top 10, or even top 5 pick in the 2024 draft, behind Cole Eiserman, Mackie Cellebrini, and Aron Kiviharju.

this seems like a good move, Lavallée had a .912 Sv% in 30 regular season game and a .927 Sv% in the playoffs, hope he gets a contract

He was over a point per game for und even though they lost a lot of point producers from the previous year. He’s also elite defensively

Montréal has the best grade for this draft (only team with A+) per Corey Pronman. Still not too enthusiastic about the Slafkovsky pick, but I feel like Hutson & Beck can be home runs and Mesar a good value pick.

Seattle has a A
Columbus, Arizona, Buffalo have A-

A Heiskanen-Kyrou pairing in 2025-2026 will be 🔥

He was a steal of a pick, I actually prefer him over our first rounder. Time will tell, but I’m a little bit high on him.

I think that’s a little high for Kyrou. He’s excellent offensively, but he’s still 5’10” and not a great skater. A solid pick, but not a steal, and not a top 4 lock. I’d be more excited about Bichsel for sure. He’s 6’5” and mobile, and projects to be a top 4 defensive guy who can be useful in transition at the very least. He did show some offensive potential at the junior level (not as much in. the SHL), so if that translates up levels you could have a real force there.

I hope you’re right, but that kind of stuff really makes me think of an Oleksiak, and that’s not necessarily what you’d want out of him.

I personally think he skates pretty good, not a fantastic skater, but I wouldn’t consider him to be not good. I have that gut feeling that Kyrou ends up doing well, maybe not better than Bichsel, but still good.

I’d need 1 more year to properly evaluate both (like Johnston and Stankoven), so as of right now, I don’t have a solid stance on things.

My draft grades are gonna be posted probably later today (I’m at Tampa, almost done, it’s so much writing lmao), and in there I said that I could see Bichsel-Kyrou being an excellent 2nd pair, because they’re basically polar opposites as players, and I think they’d complement each other well. I do think Bichsel would be your #2/#3 and PK1 guy though, whereas Kyrou is the #4/#5 but runs an effective power play (probably PP2, but he could be good enough to run PP1 if you want to rest Heiskanen a little and/or prefer a right shot QB on that top unit).

I mean, he's 20. Matthew Wood, who's 17, put up pretty similar PPG totals. So not going to be a superstar per se, but if he lights it up at Michigan, could be one to watch.

Corey Pronman's 2023 Mock Draft

I found this interesting. Never heard of Kasper Halttunen, will have to do some research. Cal Ritchie being low is criminal.
