Cole Guttman, Sammy Walker, Brett Stapley, and Tyler Weiss standout. All can return to school tho.

I doubt Stanley signs unless he returns to school and standout, the Habs are now at the point where they own so many rights that they have to be wise in their choices of who they sign, can’t just sign everyone now

From the few Knies games I watched with Minnesota, I did like Walker. But as a Leaf fan feel like the Marlies are pretty set. I do like Stapley too, had a good run with Denver.

Wallstedt just keeps that star cloud around him - has a great game but 2 arguably weak goals and he’s determined to right the ship.

Lol.

With Bowness as coach, they have a higher chance of winning the lottery than the cup.

Well, definitely not everybody. But somehow, Seravalli did (and he somehow wasn't even the only DFO writer to do so).

Well that's odd. They were bounced in the playoff the year prior in the most lopsided series since analytics are a thing, and their only notable additions were Schmidt and Stastny.

Yeah, Seravalli made fun of himself later for it. It was a weird pick, and, needless to say, it didn't age well.

I think they also brought in Dillon didn’t they? A lot of people saw Dillon+Schmidt as 2nd and 1st pair guys respectively, on top of Pionk and Morrisey (who a lot of people see as #2s) plus DeMelo who is a solid top 4 guy, and just figured they’d have probably a top 10 defense, which is better than previous years. Unfortunately for the Jets, their defense still sucked, and Hellebuyck could only bail them out like a top 5 goalie, not a top 1 goalie. It would help if they had more than one (Ehlers) forward that cared about the puck when it’s in the defensive zone.

NHL
Predictions from a rando on the top 16 - heres my take on these players. FEEL FREE TO DICUSS NOT HARD STUCK ON ANYTHING!
(USING BOBBY MARGARITA'S RANKS)

1 Juraj Slafkovsky TPS (SM Liiga Jr.) - Who I would select first overall. Slap in the AHL and let him cook.
2nd Line PWF, think he'll achieve that. Chance for best in class imo.

2 Shane Wright Kingston (OHL) - think he'll be a bonafide 2C, like a Cirelli (just a guy you need in your top6 to win).
2C 200ft player, I think he should also not be rushed into the NHL.

3 Logan Cooley USA U-18 (USHL) - don't got much on Cooley, just hasn't stood out to me
middle 6 player for sure though I'd say.

4 Simon Nemec Nitra (SVK) - Could go 1st tbh.
Think he or Jiri will be a top pairing D, Chance for best in class.

5 Cutter Gauthier USA U-18 (USHL) - really like Cutter, Bob has him quite high, I'd like him in teal
3C with 2C upside, def think he could become the best "power center" of the class

6 David Jiricek Plzen (CZE) - see what I said on Nemec
Chance for best in class.

7 Joakim Kemell JYP (SM Liiga) - I think he'll go 7th and thats great for OTT
Chance for best in class. Guy is a lethal threat.

8 Jonathan Lakkerimaki Djurgardens (SWE J-20) - youre happy selecting Lekki 8+
Legitimate chance at being a 30g+ scorer

9 Matt Savoie Winnipeg (WHL) - high end potential, I mean real high
Savoie down here is a steal. Hindsight does not matter - this is a great pick even if it doesnt pan out

10 Marco Kasper Rögle (SHL) - Him and Cutter have flown up the ranks, I like him at 10
middle 6 C with a good probability of making it

11 Kevin Korchinski Seattle (WHL) - for the love of god I do not want him as a SJS selection
Probably a top4D tho if he lands right and develops on his flaws

12 Pavel Mintyukov Saginaw (OHL) - see above

13 Conor Geekie Winnipeg (WHL) - I guess your very happy with Geekie here but I think hes a bottom 6C with upside
Has potential to be a top 6 C, cant go wrong

14 Danila Yurov Magnitogorsk (KHL) - Big fan, would consider at 11 if Lekki, Kemell, Kasper, Cutter are gone
I think he will hit, top 6 winger with 1st line potential as he's got it all at 200ft, Chance for best in class.

15 Frank Nazar USA U-18 (USHL) - Big fan, would consider at 11 if Lekki, Kemell, Kasper, Cutter are gone
Add some size (similar to Eklunds case in 2021) and I think he'll devleop nicely. Top6 potential, cant go wrong with him past 10

16 Brad Lambert JYP (SM Liiga)- Big fan, would consider at 11 if Lekki, Kemell, Kasper, Cutter are gone
Huge wildcard but he's got potential. I see him being similar to Raty or JP. Probably high end middle 6 player but has best in class potential..

holy smokes this was accurate as hell

For forwards yes, D get a buff. This model projects Sanderson as a 70+ pt NHL defenseman lol

Probably, but he WAS a dominant player in college this year. Over a point per game (best points per game on the team) at a UND squad that’s pretty devoid of talent now, and still 3rd in team scoring despite playing 10-15 less games than everyone else. Was poised to be a key D for USA at the Olympics before he got hurt/covid too. His defense has always been immaculate, but he’s really come into his own offensively too. If he was a PP1 guy it might not be out of reach to get 70 points at some point, but we do have Chabot. I wouldn’t put it past him to still be a consistent 50+ point guy with only PP2 time (I project him as similar to Devon Toews but bigger).

yeah i agree, 70 is almost definitely a reach but it might not be out of the question as a long shot. anything can happen in the NHL

Never too early to start scouting next year's class.

Bobcat glosses over prospects, episode 1

First name to focus on: C Will Smith.

Now this is a story all about how
my life got flipped, turned upside down
and i'd like to take a minute, just sit right there
and I'll tell you how i scouted the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

- First thing that sticks out about him: Speed and stick-handling. From the limited amount of film i could find (where i could actually tell who is who), he can deke like a demon and has a good bit of pep in his step too.

- Shooting and offensive positioning are definitely pluses as well: His wrist shot is pretty smooth (unfortunately his slapshot was not shown off at length so i don't know about that) and he finds himself in good positions to get rebounds to slap them in from point blank.

- I couldn't find any defensive highlights (not even on the 7th page of Google) or demonstrations of faceoff ability (which is weird because he's a center and all), so i don't know too much about that

All in all, he could be a mid-to-late 1st round pick in my honest opinion.

I’d imagine Will Smith can slapshot like no one else
