Sweden's top prospect for the 2023 draft.
The way he attacks the slot area from a wide entry on the first two plays I find particularly encouraging.

It’s nice to see Sweden get another top C prospect, lack of depth up the middle has really held them back the last couple of years imo. If Carlsson doesn’t stick in the NHL right away, the 2024 Sweden WJC team might be the gold medal favourite. But then again, Canada’s 2023 draft class is absolutely stacked lol. The problem for them will be if they’re too good (2024 eligible guys like Wright, Bedard, and Fantilli are all very unlikely to participate in that tournament). Sweden has got a very solid defense and goaltending as well (no stars, but a lot of good prospects).

Ohgren-Ostlund-Lekkerimaki
Stenberg-Carlsson-O. Pettersson
Forsfjall-Bystedt-Nordh

Odelius-Salomonsson
Nordberg-M. Havelid
Lindstein-E. Pettersson

Kokko / Reidler / H. Havelid

So Craig Button posted a top 32 and it already makes me want to peg him off like i do every year, Sale at 2?, like come on man, Emil Jarventie at 12, guys like Andrew Strathmann, Etienne Morin and Oliver Bonk ( elite name ) at 29, 30, 32 while simultaneously not ranking Lindstein, Brzustewicz, Musty

Top heavy Canadian draft. You love to see it.

Also Czech's are going to be big underdogs for many WC to come with these all of these young prospects.

I've been very impressed by Oskar Magnussen so far this year, played well at World Juniors and is now moving up the lineup for AIK. I don't know if he'll ever get a look in DC since he's behind a lot of other C/W guys in the system, but seems like the type of buy low prospect a team trades for and is rewarded in the future. (So he'll eventually end up as a top 6 option in Carolina and haunt the Caps every year)

Also Nickl at 3RD is interesting, I've liked the little bit I've seen from him, and could be a decent 3rd pair guy snagged by Anaheim in the 2020 4th round, but disappointed he isn't on the 2nd pairing

Sale is a nice player but compared to Michkov or Fantilli yeah hes not going above those 2 unless that is they either fall off hard or the russian situation pushes Michkov down

Gushchin is dominating the preseason for SJ.

He’s inarguably catapulted himself up the Sharks depth charts, prospect rankings, and imo is going to make it a real struggle to be sent down without receiving a proper look if he keeps this up.

Carrying 3 goals (2 tonight with 1 period left), and 1 assist in under 2gp. Bordeleau continues to build a solid resume. I’m hoping Eklund can break through, he needs it. And Reedy Gadjovich Viel have all had solid showings.

Edit:
Now “Gushing” over the hatty.
4g - 2games

Daniil Gushchin has almost punched a ticket to the Prague trip in Europe vs NSH. He’s pole vaulted Eklund, and Bordeleau. Bordeleau has been solid but Eklund hasn’t been notable (he’s not been bad he just has had much highlights).

Gusher cannot be send down before Prague, it would be shameful to not let him get a reward due to his standout performance.

Friendly reminder Pronman did not consider Gushchin a TOP15 Sharks prospect because he is small.

Gushchin

Put up back to back over PPG seasons in the USHL from Russia. Then joined the OHL this past year and was one of the top scorers in the O. Dominated offensively for one of the worst teams in the league.

He’s a small talented offensive winger who looks for the net and to use his hands in tight situations. Some analysts compared him to a “datysuk” type player (not as well rounded at all) - but he wants to use his creativity to create scoring chances. He’s got a super clean shot and I think it’s gotten better each year since he got drafted (2020 3rd rounder) as it just looks smoother and faster now. He’s been all over each of his preseason games - and his production paired with his play has been outstanding against nearly NHL caliber squads for a player who’s 5’8.

Eklund and Bords were my top 2 sharks prospects but Gushchin was my 3rd, and he’s blown all his competition out of the water and if any rookie stays in teal it’s the 3rd rounder from 2020 - the guys got that dawg in him as they say.
