How he fell to 20

cause he's a goalie. They're voodoo. How many 1st round goalies were actually worth where they were picked?

Yes, but he's still a goalie. Was Knight worth the pick? Look who was drafted right after him. York, Caufield, Krebs, Newhook.

Askarov? Lindell, Jarvis.

Not really worth taking a goalie that low.

Are we talking about Knight now are Wallstedt? Pretty sure I was talking about Jesper and that teams will regret passing on him.

To me, Wallstedt was the most 'sure thing' goalie prospect we've seen in years and years. I'm someone who's typically skeptical about drafting goalies high, but I would have been absolutely ecstatic to get him anywhere outside like the top 7. Crazy that he fell to 20, let alone not being the first goalie selected. And there's still plenty of time for me to look like an idiot for saying that, but I believed it then and still do now.

I'm talking about in general it's not a great idea to pick a goalie that early. You're talking about him like he's some kind of steal. The players drafted after him have been more impactful. He wasn't a steal.

Tyler Boucher - less than PPG in the OHL in his D+2 year (i think? i always mix up D0 and D+1). 10th overall
Cole Sillinger - having some struggles in the NHL in his second year, and had 31pts in 79 GP in his first season. maybe not better than Wallstedt cuz it's tricky to compare skaters and goalies. 12th overall
Sebastian Cossa - sitting in the ECHL with a 2.90 GAA and 0.896 SV% in 27 GP. when he was in the AHL, he was 5.57 GAA and 0.783 SV% in 3 GP. 15th overall
Fedor Svechkov - 8 pts in 4 GP in the MHL, 7 pts in 14 GP in the VHL. again, difficult to compare skaters and goalies, but Wallstedt may have the edge here. 19th overall

definitely not a steal by any means just yet, but a good pick for sure

Wasn't Boucher a projected 3rd round pick? Not my fault Ottawa is stupid and took him that early. Can't fix stupid.

Sillinger is having a down sophomore season, but it's in the NHL. He's still done boat loads more than what Jasper has done in the NHL.

You're proving my points that goalies are voodoo and shouldn't be 1st round picks with that 3rd one.

Wallstedt was the number one pick of 2020 and I’ll die on that hill. Hes gonna dumpster the league: oh and he’s on the same team as Kaprizov 🥶

Even if he becomes a decent starting goalies, I'll argue it wasn't worth the risk. Judging by recent goalie draft picks, it won't even be with Minny, he'll bust and then become a starter with another team.

Really, just look at the starters in the NHL. Very rarely do they stick with the original team that drafted them. They develop so late that usually the original team gives up on them.

Good question will need to go back and check (Will do since 2000)

Will it count if said goalie does well not by the team who drafted him but his new team or do we go by the team who actually drafted him

K so from 2000-2022

2000 = Nope (2 picked)
2001 = Nope (4 picked)
2002 = Yes but with an * (Lehtonen taken to high but Ward was fine for a late 1st)
2003 = MAF enough said (Yes)
2004 = Schneider rest nope (4 picked)
2005 = Price and Rask (Astounding Yes)
2006 = Yes but with * (Bernier taken to high but was fine as a 1st round goalie pick)
2007 = No goalies
2008 = Nope (2 picked)
2009 = No goalies
2010 = Nope (Despite what Jack has done recently dont think a recent sample's worth where he went and with his inconsistencies not good) (2 picked)
2011 = No goalies
2012 = Andrei Vasilevskiy is a yes but Subban is a no (2 picked)
2013 = No goalies
2014 = No goalies
2015 = Samsonov (still to be determined) (1 picked)
2016 = No goalies
2017 = No goalies
2018 = No goalies
2019 = Knight (still to be determined) (1 picked)
2020 = Askarov (To early)
2021 = Wallstedt & Cossa (To early but yea Cossain the ECHL so yea not great rn) (2 picked)
2022 = No goalies

I'd like to know both, but for purposes of this arguement, I'd say who drafted them.

I think we talked buffalo before but i am now conviced buffalo will be #4 because they are not in the photo of the top prospects.

Last year Peterka, Quinn, Power, Samuelsson, Krebs and UPL where all in the top 10. We added Savoie, Kulich, and Ostlund but i feel like they will still fall a bit.

I don't even know. Also Klimovich is on the fourth line for some reason. Don't read too much into it. Di Giuseppe is a pretty good AHL player so maybe they want to try Raty with a vet.

Will always thank his former KHL team for doing the right thing and loaning him to a team that would give him more ice time

As he has thrived ever since that move
