That’s a terrible trade for the jets, This starts with Mercer

Ehlers doesn’t fit the profile of a winger Fitzgerald is looking for. Also, what’s up with the Seattle trade?

Do you really not like Ehlers that much. He’s easily been our second best forward the last couple years behind Connor. That trade is horrible for the Jets

Ehlers can shoot so why not if Winn has a fire sale. Smith is just the odd man out, unsure where he goes - poor trade I know

Devils need (a) big-body, soft-hands type to play in net front tipping, deflecting, screening, cleaning up rebounds and (b) physical puck retriever to play in corners. Ehlers, while very good, is more a speedy, break them from outside winger, which we have a lot of. Fitzgerald has described his wish is to add “heavier skill” on wing and doesn’t want to “add more of the same”. Devils are very able to generate scoring chances. Team shooting % will naturally rise as they grow and develop, but also when they can get pucks on net from the point and boost their league-low tips/rebounds.

No I like him but 2nd overall very well might end up being Wright. Insurance down the middle and

Not at all but he only has three years left, rather not lock him for 8 years when he's 29 Zacha is a bigger forward plays center and wing, probably get it done long term around 4-4.5. It's the 2nd overall pick that makes me make this deal. Wright may go 2nd overall insurance if we lose a center. Or it could be Juraj Slafkovsky who many predict could end up being the best player in the draft. Big power forward scoring winger. As much as I like Ehlers I'd do this deal

I don't think 2nd OA is being offered. It's the 2023 1st.

The pick 2nd is overall, Either wright or Juraj Slafkovsky. So #1 center or big scoring power forward that slides right into your top six and zacha.

The pick that’s being offered is the 2023 first rounder. I agree about what you’re saying and I’m sure the Jets would consider if second overall was available. But I still would hesitate considering how important Ehlers is to our transition offense.

Ehlers should be one of the jets untouchables along with Connor and Morrissey. If you want Ehlers it will cost 2OA+++.
