i made a mock roster using the trade you made, check it out. what the leafs can do with it is bonkers

Some of the other stuff is definitely very optimistic lol. But at the bare minimum I think a trade like that makes sense for you guys because you’re filling a couple areas of need while freeing up the cap to replace what you lost in Nylander

Because in this scenario NSH is content letting him go to market and potentially leave for nothing. So you take what you can get, and in this case it’s a pretty good offer

You're basically offering negotiating rights before he hits UFA value. If NSH gets Forsberg's name on an eight year contract at a reasonable cap hit, his trade value is out of NYI's price range.

Sign and Trade so it’s really an overpay. But it’s a bad idea
anyway. Also Bellows isn’t a scrub.

Bellows is a 24 year old bottom six forward, that can't earn a consistent spot in the lineup of a struggling team. He's not much of an asset.

You know what's the difference between fiala and anderson ? One had to be traded and other shouldn't be traded, how's that for a "taste of reality" ? We want anderson and we certainly aren't looking to trade him so unless a GM really wants him and is willing to massively overpay he's staying in montreal

He plays well when he gets in the lineup. The fact Trotz sat him to play Ross Johnston isn’t his fault.

To keep the AAV down (and prevent him from getting to the open market) I am very much in favor of paying to lock him in. We need a legit scorer on this team. Assuming NSH is ready to let him reach the open market they should whatever they can get

Id be extremely wary of filip forsberg, his production this year is extremely unsustainable. He was in the 96th percentile in goals scored above expected and shot 5% higher than his career average. Signing him to an expensive deal till hes 36 is exactly the reason the roster looks the way it does. Overpaying guys after unsustainable career years till theyre in their later 30s is how we got here in the 1st place.
